Hell just froze over: Devil May Cry goes to PS3, PC and 360

Less unlikely then DMC4 going Multiplatform!

Games are going to the 360 because not many people have a PS3 and people actually want their games to *gasp!* sell.

Oh, and I almost forgot...

Well, if the trailers and demos at the time of the first Ninja Gaiden are any indication, the final build of NG2 will end up looking and playing significantly much better.

They've already said that they're very far along with Ninja Gaiden 2. They had something like 16 stages selectable when they showed it off and DMC is 5 months away roughly.

Devil May Cry is just better overall imo. Better style, better visual design bar none, better music, more satisfying combat because of the better style.

The combat mechanics of both games are on par with one another, well, they even out with a edge going to Ninja Gaiden mechanics if not its implementation which I find boring, but I do like how twitchy it is compared to DMC1 and 3. We'll have to see what each game brings to the table for the sequels.

DMC4 is looking a bit better gameplay wise but it's not like we've sen enough of either game, Ninja Gaiden 2 looked like more of the same.

It would take Team Ninja not producing sub par artwork for Ninja Gaiden 2 to look better then DMC4, and that's not going to happen. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is pretty close to Ninja Gaiden 2, and given Team Ninjas proficiency with graphics this generation that probably won't change come the final product, not to any big degree anyway.

I think the problem with DMC is that there it has way too much button mashing and doesn't require as much finesse and skill as Ninja Gaiden. Not to mention that it's action gameplay is also noticeably slower. This is further compounded by the enemies not being half as aggressive as those in Ninja Gaiden. And I just HATE the bloody lock on function - it's a pain in the ass when dealing with multiple enemies, especially when you're unable to melee attack more than one simultaneously like you can in Ninja Gaiden.

I also firmly maintain that the weapons in Ninja Gaiden are generally speaking a lot more refined and varied in characteristics than those in DMC, and the're also more useful. And the massive movelist doesn't hurt either. And I didn't even list the platforming, double jumping, wall and water running yet. All this is exactly why DMC's gameplay and combat mechanics are still not on the level of Ninja Gaiden's. Heck, DMC is simply a flashier, better looking but ultimately lesser and inferior cousin of Ninja Gaiden. I see the competition between the two games as a simple choice between style and substance.

Capcom and sega are delaying games thaty are ready to roll out because they want to see what the fallout from halo 3 is and how it effects the 360 install base

I can see a LOT more PS3 exclusives getting ported in 2008!

and to those who would bring up japan...something tells me capcom and sega are a little more impressed with the wii in terms of the japanese market right now

:)

Hahaha, fanboys can biatch and moan all they want about Halo being mediocre or overrated, but I bet it really burns them from within to know how big a juggernaut the Halo series really is that has pretty much everyone scared ****less. Prepare for yet another record-breaking day one sales everyone!

I couldn't be less a fan of Halo as a game, but I couldn't be more of a fan of the impact it makes on everyone else. Mercy!

Not to mention that it's action gameplay is also noticeably slower. This is further compounded by the enemies not being half as aggressive as those in Ninja Gaiden.

Those are all valid complaints, but something tells me you never played Devil May Cry 3, the enemies aren't as aggressive, but dying on the first level isn't uncommon, and it's not because of cheapness, it's because you encounter enemies that force you to constantly keep moving and reacting with split seconds notice. Ninja Gaiden is basically a timing game when it comes to its combat. Devil may Cry, while taking in all those criticisms, is much more free form and actually allows the player real control over the avatar. Ninja Gaiden is very dial a combo, canned moves, and the success of those moves are based on timing, not necessarily doing the right move like in DMC. Now granted the pace is very fast, and that makes it feel intense, but in conjunction with how deficient Ninja Gaiden is in every aspect that isn't its combat system, the game feels quite boring once you've figured out what combo to dial and when, since the AI is reactive, and you can basically manipulate it rather easily.

And I just HATE the bloody lock on function - it's a pain in the ass when dealing with multiple enemies, especially when you're unable to melee attack more than one simultaneously like you can in Ninja Gaiden.

You can melee more then one enemy in DMC.

I also firmly maintain that the weapons in Ninja Gaiden are generally speaking a lot more refined and varied in characteristics than those in DMC, and the're also more useful. And the massive movelist doesn't hurt either.

The weapons don't really have a masssive move list, having played through Sigma, I found them to be pretty shallow, I'm always surprised that people say the weapons have a lot of depth, when to me that's one of the weakest aspects of Ninja Gaiden. Just look at the moves you do have, and how beating an enemy is usually about just doing that one move, timed right.

And I didn't even list the platforming, double jumping, wall and water running yet. All this is exactly why DMC's gameplay and combat mechanics are still not on the level of Ninja Gaiden's.

The combat evens out, Ninja Gaiden trades control and actual move depth for a fast pace, and Devil may Cry trades a fast pace for control and move depth. All they need to do in DMC is make enemies more aggressive. The platforming in Ninja Gaiden is better, but aside from being pretty much equal in combat, Ninja Gaiden is virtually ******ed in all other aspects, which is why I don't think it's as good overall.

Heck, DMC is simply a flashier, better looking but ultimately lesser and inferior cousin of Ninja Gaiden. I see the competition between the two games as a simple choice between style and substance.

Play Devil may Cry 3 on hard mode, or extreme where it's sped up faster then Ninja Gaiden, and say that it doesn't have substance. The distinction really, is that Devil may Cry gives you as much freeform and control as possible, while Ninja Gaiden restricts you, in a lot of ways it's like the control difference between a Metal Gear and Splinter Cell. True Devil may Cry is more mashy, but at the same time it still has that split second timing in abundance, and to actually play DMC well, requires more skill then Ninja Gaiden, because Ninja Gaiden is just a timing game where you hit the right button at the right time, Devil May Cry is free form and its up to the player to figure it out and excell at it. Ninja Gaiden is timing, dial a combo, rinse and repeat, you might be good at timing, but come back when you can pull off moves like this, or style change on the fly like in DMC4.

I definetly think Halo is overated. Its hardly the best FPS out there which others will argue agaisnt. But hey thats just my opinion

Devil May Cry has more satisfying combat than NG because it's like playing Tony Hawk with a sword instead of a skateboard-- it's all about racking up sweet combos and getting crazy scores. NG is more about hacking up everything you encounter just because it can potentially kill you. Both series are very solid, but I give the edge to DMC because overall I think it's slightly better.

While both games are very shallow when it comes to story, I also give the nod to DMC's just because it has a way more entertaining way of telling it.

Keep dreaming, HF... Everyone knows that Halo 3 is going to be the top selling game this year, but developers aren't going to abandon exclusives because of it. MGS4 and Killzone 2 will push PS3 onto close-to-equal footing next year, and if FFXIII comes in '08, then it's bye-bye year head start for Xbox 360 (as in, PS3 passes it in sales).

Highly unlikely, but whatever.

DMC is an overated series anyway. I stopped caring for it after the original. I hope DMC4 can change my opinion

Halo has already shattered all pre-order records. And when Killzone 2 comes out, I'm sure people will remember that the first one sucked hard. 360 has a FF game coming out for it and MGS4 is in talks to be brought to the 360. Not to mention the 360 has more exclusives coming out than the PS3. All your points are terrible.

I love how every pro sony argument seems to be almost entirely composed of the words if, when and maybe. :o

Most would say it's the best.
I know and I definetly disagree. I think its more hype than anything. I have Halo 2. Its fun but really not all that. I much prefer the Unreal Tournament series

Yeah, I can't wait to play SingStar or Afrika. :whatever:

This post is kind of biased since you are missing quite a bit of PS3 titles. The number of exclusives on both systems is roughly the same and not the huge landslide you are portraying it to be

You've never played Halo? That's like saying you've never had ice cream, chocolate, or beer!

I found it on their offical sites.
oh okay, but like I said, thats hardly a complete list. Theres many more PS3 exclusives than that. Heavy Rain, Timesplitters 4 (as of now), Haze, Getaway 3, Infamous, Jak & Daxter, come to mind among others

Did you not read my post. In it I say I own Halo 2

Obviously you did not comprehend the point he was making. That you have never played Halo. As in, Halo, the first game in the series.

But I never said I didnt play Halo 1. And for the record, I own that title as well.
