Yeah well you have so lets move on......

sure...once they change the character model or give a damn good explanation for why he looks next to nothing like the established character I thoroughly enjoy.

This is a forum where we share our opinions...if you don't like it you don't have to post. If you want to talk about something else, go ahead. I'm not stopping you.

...Spider-Man 2099 is in the future, not a reboot. This is literally nothing like Spider-Man 2099.

If anything this is more like Ultimate Spider-man...and guess who he looks like...EXACTLY LIKE 616 SPIDER-MAN!
I know 2099 wasnt a reboot. Point is that it was a new take on an established character.

And Ult Spidey was one of the few that looked exactly like his original 616 counterpart. A good number recieved altered appearances, but it was okay bc it was another universe.

- DMC5 doesn't exist.
Exactly, so whats the problem? If and when Capcom make DmC5, they can have it based around the white haired Dante that everyone knew and followed.

- If they are going to reboot and use the same character as in the previous existing titles...that character should look similar or at least improve over the original. This new Dante does neither of these things imo, thus i will complain.

We're not stopping anyone from talking about the gameplay mechanics...we are just voicing our distaste of this new Dante.
Have they said this is the same character? All signs point to this being something new, hence why its a reboot, NOT a sequel. Its a new character with the same name. Think of it as an alternate universe that does not exist in the same continuity as DMC1-4. I think people are looking at this with the wrong mentality. Its not a continuation of the original set of games.

Ignoring Dante's look for a moment, is anyone else worried that they try to westernise DMC? I loved DMC because of what it was. Is there a need to change the style, that has been established in these past 10 years? IMO, this is one of these, if it ain't broke, don't fix it scenarios.

There's still so much left you could've done storywise, before hitting the reboot button.

I think thats the whole point. Prior to the unveiling at TGS, there has been word that Capcom has been wanting to westernize the series

A thought just sprang to mind regarding your post here: why westernize something that is already wildly popular to the westerners?!?

the series is well known...yes. Wildly popular? No. DMC4 wasnt a huge seller and they are going in a different direction to broaden the audience in hopes of capturing more potential sales. It may not work, but that is their thouhgt process with this

well...maybe not wildly popular on the grand scheme of things when you compare to say COD or Halo. But in and of that genre of games, DMC is wildly popular. DMC, God of War, Ninja Gaiden...all top shelf franchises in the hack and slash action genre. If DMC4 would have stayed an exclusive to PS3, it would have been a system seller. Hell, it was one of the reasons i initially set my sights on buying a PS3.

You know, they should really hint at alternate dimensions in the game. A portal would suddenly open during the game, original Dante steps out and slaps new Dante across the face. :cmad:

Well, I don't know about system seller big, but yeah, DMC has always sold very solidly. People seem to have the idea that it's this little niche franchise or something, but 2 million units, that's a pretty solid number, and I'm sure the others sold at least that much over time.

Please don't do that...

LOL! DMC: Shattered Dimenson

I wasnt trying to say anything about the series...what I posted was Capcom's explanation for it. Here's the quote, straight from Inafune

The Devil May Cry series has developed a strong fanbase and respectable sales numbers over the years, but for Capcom's global head of production, Keiji Inafune, that's not enough. For the next iteration, Inafune and Capcom plan to further increase the game's appeal to Western audiences.

"Despite the franchise has some very loyal followers, their sales are not particularly high, especially overseas," Inafune told Spanish gaming site 3DJuegos. "For this reason, it is likely that in the fifth chapter will incorporate certain "Western touch" to make it more attractive to American and European players."

There, you have your answer. It doesnt get more clearer than that. Again, whether it will work or not remains to be seen but for now, that is the reason for this change and the attempt to better appeal to the western market

Damn...well, that's surprising to hear. Kinda makes me a sad panda...

That's a classic example of PR speak; 1 million sales is good (and he could get away with that one), 2 million sales is better than good though. That's pretty high numbers, unless of course you want to judge all sales by the standards of Halo and COD, then pretty much nothing sales particularly high.

I'm buying this game just because it looks so awesome. Just like the article states, the original games were too Japan-oriented for me. Not there is anything wrong with that. It's just that I'm not into that style. Hence why I don't watch Anime, read Magna or play their games. I'm just not into that. This game interests me.

Also, did you notice that Dante looks like the game's director?

Yes, we do. It's part of the reason we complained about Dante's new look.

I'm not really complaining. I was just pointing it out. I think you guys are just using it as a liable reason to complain.

No one complained that the main character in Shadow Complex looked like Cliff Blezinzki.

I don't know Shadow Complex, nor do I know what Cliff Blezinzki looks like. And it's a viable reason to complain, when you have a character design that is 10 years old and it gets swapped for a game director's likeness, because he thinks it'd be awesome to be the main character.

Did Shadow Complex have 4 games with an established look to the original character prior to the characters model being changed to resemble said person?

No. But that doesn't warrant hate on the fact that the new look is resembled on the director.

I don't get why people get so worked up about a characters look. I didn't complain when Cole from inFamous was redesigned and I LOVE inFamous. I just don't get the hate.

...

I even sorta like this new Dante :O

That's probably because you look similar to the game director yourself. Don't you?! :cmad:

I'm more concerned with the decision to reboot than what dante looks like, even if this game turns out to be good, I'd like to see capcom return to the storyline of the original series

you should really say that on the Epic battle cry comments. I'm sure that really needs to be said by you there since one of the main host that it needed a reboot cause ht thought it ran it's cource as he said there. I did put up the link not so long ago this week.
