In fact, I think TF has no competitors for the next Oscar visual effects and sound effects.

We all talk about the groundbreaking visual effects here, does anyone notice that the sound effects are super too?

Pirates obviously. Probably should win too.

This film should get the Oscar.
Pirates was VERY good, but Transformers was just so much better, and it really showed because of the bots being in the real world, aside from them being in a fully CG environment.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 will likely be in there somewhere.
Harry Potter 5 is another runner up.
Golden Compass looks competitive.
Die Hard 4 looks competitive.
Bourne Ultimatum is my wildcard guess: Could score well or maybe not.
Spider-Man 3 has plenty to offer.
Pathfinder and Ghost Rider have an outside shot at making the long list I think, but I don't count on them to score the top honors.

Bear in mind that the visual effects Oscars are based on a 15 minute demo clip from each contender and not the whole movie.

ALOT of that film was good ol' fashioned stunts and real explosions.
Same has Transformers, aside from the bots themselves.
Spider-Man 3 was a step down from Spider-Man 2.

ok, the situation is like this:

the oscar is tired of the pirates
the oscar is tired of harry potter
the oscar is tired of spiderman

... lastly ...
the oscar has never seen such a thing like Transformers, neither has the whole world. that's why my vote goes to TF. :)

Well said I think it'll be Transformers, Pirates and (to a lesser extend) Spiderman 3 nominated, and Of course TF will win. :trans:

Transformers had the best visual and digital effects known to man kind.:wow:

End of story.

There was nothing special about it.

1. Transformers

2. Pirates

3. Spider-Man 3

Transformer HAS to win the Oscar. If not, I'm going to hurt someone.

i happy with either pirates or TF.....

sm3 fx were mierda!

Right now, I say TF deserves the Oscar.

Second choice, probably Pirates 3. (There are no surprises with the VFX catagory)
