Do You Believe In Evolution?

And there have been quotes in the Bible, and then, many pages later, another quote, from the same God, contradictiing the first. These results alone prove the Bible useless.
Examples, please?

Technically speaking, no, because I did not traditionally graduate high school. I did however, take my GED exam in 2000, and I went to college for a year (2002-2003) as well. I've also learned many things through reading both books and various Web articles, watching historical documentaries, that sort of thing. I'm certainly no Einstein, but I think my knowledge is pretty well rounded.
So you were home schooled I take it? Why did you stop going to college?

Are we really going to argue over whether the Bible is inconsistent or not? It is quite obvious it is. You know, if you actually read it.

Exactly...we have been over Bible contradictions before and Moviefan and Kal both admitted that they could not explain why. So back to the topic.

Mules, donkeys, and horses are all part of the same kind of animal. They may be different species, but their differences aren't significant enough to be considered an entirely different kind.

Carp, tuna, salmon, bass, and trout are all different species as well, but they're also all fish, which is a set kind.

Is a Dolphin a fish, or is that too complicated for you to figure out?

No, dolphins are not fish. However, they are of the same kind as the whale and porpoise.

what about sharks are they in the fish kind?

No; I went to public school until I was 17, by which time I was a freshman in high school (long story; I'd rather not delve into it). I was taken out of school due to various learning problems, and took my GED test 3 years later.

Why did you stop going to college?
I was studying multimedia, and reached a point where I felt I hadn't learned the basics well enough to progess further. I probably could have (my grades didn't totally suck), but the one advanced class I'd been taking was severely stressing me out, to the point of emotional breakdown. So, I decided to take some time off, to practice my basic design skills...but over time, I just lost my enthusiasm, and decided not to go back.

I feel bad for moviefan2k4, he is being ripped apart by EVERYONE in this thread and none of his post have had anything insulting in them (even though I don't agree with them because I do beleive that species have evolved into other species) he's basically being cyberbullied. :o

No, but I do think they're probably in the same kind as whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Either that, or they're in a kind of their own, with different species existing (like the hammerhead or the great white).

As it stands, that's a bit subjective. There is no single "fish" classification taxonomically, so that question sort of forces us to define just what a "fish" actually is.

Even some of those definitions don't agree, stating that a fish is ectothermic when we know that some sharks are poikilothermic endotherms and some fish are nearly endothermic homeotherms.

Very interesting question, that...

Oh, so sharks are mammals.

Excuse me.

:lmao: :pal:

This is just an odd side note, but do sharks lay eggs or give birth to live young? I'm inclined to go with the latter... but I'm not sure.

then don't you think trouts would be a seperate kind since they have rainbow, golden, flathead types. yet you bundled them together with all kinds of other fish. see it's be nice if some creationists got together and sorted out which animals they want to arbitrarily group together.

I am fairly certain at least some kinds lay eggs. I saw some eggs in a cluster on the beach once and soemone told me they were shark eggs that had washed up.

Sharks are fish, but they are in their own class because they are the only fish to have cartilagenous (I know I didn't spell that right) bone (cartiliage for bone, whatever). I do recall that from bilogy class at least.

Depends on the species, actually. Sharks have three primary modes of reproduction:

Viviparous - Live birth to young implanted and developed inside the womb. Usually involves a direct connection with the mother (umbilical cord).

Oviparous - Lay eggs.

Ovoviviparous - Eggs are deposited in the womb and stored internally. Generally, those that hatch first eat their brothers and sisters.

Sharks are incredibly diverse reproductively, displaying many strategies for providing nutrition to the developing young that range from the young eating the very lining of the mother's uterus (OMFG) to having a nutritious milk-like substance secreted from the womb into the developing shark's mouth.

In short: sharks are ****ing awesome.

Why does Moviefan's education matter?
Because if he had given religion and science an equal opportunity in his education we may not be having this debate:o Instead, his education in science is purely theist based and therefore skewed to one side. High school chemistry, biology, etc...is horrible compared to their college counterpart and further upper levels of education beyond that.

Some sharks lay eggs and some give live birth indeed. Same goes for reptiles.
