Do You Believe In Evolution?

okay he goes on about this plastercine ball saying that we don't know who made it. that's unimportant because the science is in how it was made. i'd wager some one rolled up some plastercine. just like i can wager gravity brought together the elements of the earth because the processes are repeatable. balls of plastercine not naturally rolling them selves up implies a maker but planets whose parts gravitate toward each other are naturally rolled up. and the rest of his logic falls apart from that mistake.
I think you're just being close-minded.

I think you're just being close-minded.

i laughed out loud at that phrase near the end of his video. it was so ironic considering how he'd closed his mind to other possibilities to do with time, infinite regression and first causes.

At least he's right.

That's the problem. He's not right. He creates a woefully inadequate straw man at the very beginning of his diatribe, then proceeds to defend said straw man throughout the video.

Well, I imagined he learn about evolution in school and decided not to accept it.

It sounds like he learned about Evolution from Kent Hovind and decided against accepting Hovind's version of Evolution.

There is a user called Thunderf00t who created a series of videos called "Why do people laugh at Creationists?" that debunks all of Venomfang's using his own comments with actual references to books and examples of empirical evidence.

Did you bother researching this guy before you posted his useless tripe, or did he come up on a quick search for people who agreed with you?

Well for me, the fact that the fossil evidence exists doesn't refute God's existance, it only calls into question certain things int the Bible, a book I think can be unreliable at times. The fact that the fossils exist to me doesn't mean that God wants us to be atheists, he could instead be saying, "Here, look what I made a long time ago. Wasn't it cool?" :p

I also don't think he is worried about intellectual competition... but some churches might be. ;)
lol...

your point's hold water - your belief for the reasons for fossils being there doesn't dispute the natural process by which scientists believe they came to be there. Sorry to be rude, but i was aiming the question at the irrational members of the hype. :cwink: Your points at least have a logical basis - how can i argue with that? .... i miss moviefan.

nice tag dude - My version's better it's the " I aint that good" version - but still Awesome Bruce Campbell reference..

Sadly your post was not awesome - that dude didn't have anything to dispute evolution - he merely disputed the standard for which we accept any information (ironic as that may be) whilst focusing on the formation of the earth. To extend such an example to evolution is as ridiculous as the following hyperbolic example.
Imagine Venom in court trying to defend someone of murder on such a basis
Venom: "but your honour, no one saw him do it"
Judge: ahh what?
Venom: No one saw him therefore no one can possible make claims about how it actually happened
Judge: What about other forms of evidence? His finger prints were found on her neck, he was seen entering the house, a scream was heard, then she was found dead, the scientific forensic report says she suffocated
Venom: That's not science - we'll have to strangle a few more women in the same way before making such a claim -

It shows ignorance of the theory and the process by which the theory was developed.

i cna not belive after so many pages and so many link that people still dont know what evolution means.

dear lord where is this world going?

What happened to him? Did he get tired of arguing a point? Is he mourning over the fact that Obama is our new president elect? Did he get banned for being overtly *****ey?

I sort of miss him to, validating your personal belief system by means of disproving others is a tried and true method of self-esteem boosting.

Squeekness is a girl person. :p

He probably did get tired. It's hard when you get lambasted every time you turn around. But I imagine he will be back after he's had a rest.

ok so back to evolution. in 200 years you think people will change very much or just little?

what changes do oyu expect?

Evolution is occuring in Homo sapiens as we speak. Just look underdeveloped regions in the world. Rural populations are developing mutations that allow resistance/protection to common viruses and disease. Some African populations are developing new developing new natural selective defenses against malaria and AIDS. So I don't think we'll ever stop evolving.

None. Natural selection has little to do with anyone's survival in this day and age.

Not true.

In 200 years? Not much. But if we manage not to off oursleves, in 2,000 years I think we might see some changes. The process of evolution is slow. Most changes don't happen over night. :p

Mutation...it is how we evolved from a single cell organism into the dominate species of the planet. This process is slow... taking thousands and thousands of years but with every few millenia, evolution leaps forward.

Little. 200 years is a very short timeframe biologically speaking we're not THAT different from the peoples of 200 years ago. Although technologically there will be great advances.
