I can't help but think that all this delicious turkey and tatoes' have blood on them, but they sure are delicious as hell. I HAD nothing to do with it, but always feel guilt when thinking about them Native Americans.

Pass the pie!

I'm part Native American and don't feel guilty in the slightest. Partially because I don't associate the spirit of the holiday with its roots. Today, it's simply meant to be a time where you give thanks for what you have - family, friends and Netflix - and there's nothing wrong with that.

No. I am an atheist and even I think a day in which we take time to celebrate our blessings in life and the family we have is good. Sorry to sound callous but, yes, the Natives got a raw deal on every level and they were betrayed time and time again by our government breaking treaty after treaty. Still... I see no reason not to have a celebration day that is linked to the history of the first non-native settlers of this country.

Daaaaaaaamn! What tribe?

Echota Cherokee. Only 1/4, though.

I always saw it as an excuse to have time off work and stuff your face.

No, whole new meaning. Now I'm hungry AF for some sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and turkey.

Nope. I think the Natives got a raw ****ing deal over everything and they shouldn't have got treated like that in the slightest but I don't feel guilty over it. Me and my family meet up and chat over Thanksgiving (Which was over a month ago). It's a great time.

Thanksgiving today is a day to gather for dinner with your family and loved ones.

What happened to the Native Americans was absolutely wrong, but it has nothing to do with it.

No. While I agree, the Native Americans did get the short end of the stick, but I also have enough sense to know, when there is a people that is behind the times, it's just a matter of time when a more advanced civilization does come through to take over. If it wasn't the English/Spanish and French, it would have been somebody else. And no matter what, my family had nothing to do with it, and there was nothing they could do about it regardless.

2/3 of my family were 1800s German immigrants, so yea, they missed the "Thanksgiving" origin story.

No guilt felt here. My mothers side of the Family is very strong Cherokee Indian blooded. My Great Grand mother on that side (which I did not ever get to meet) was full blooded Cherokee!
But no! no guilt felt. Just like the people that still want to blame the current white generation for black slavery, you cannot blame a current generation for what something happened generations ago!

Nop. Feeling guilty over things that happened centuries ago accomplishes nothing. So I enjoy my turkey, spend time with family, and do my best to ensure no one is ever treated like the Native Americans were in the past.

Being British, I don't celebrate it, unless it's celebrated on my birthday, then the celebrations are coincidental. :o
