First Avenger Do you think Captain America would have more buzz if the movie was made in 2002?

Right around the time Spider-man came out.

Do you think that would've been an ideal time to make the movie since the rest of the world was pretty sympathetic to America at that point?

Playing on post 9/11 sympathies to garnish attention for a film would've been in bad taste.

"Behind Enemy Lines" didn't mind doing it. Why wouldn't something like Cap be able to pull it off?

It's not about whether or not Captain America could've pulled it off...it would've been in bad taste, pure and simple.

"Collateral Damage" coming out when it was intended would've been in bad taste.

"Behind Enemy Lines" coming out then WAS in bad taste.

The quality of the project doesn't factor.

Outside of the USA it might have been seen as reactionary, bumping up the jingoistic feel and probably lowering interest in the film.
