Do you think Girls Gone Wild is...

I think it's degrading and lame, but the guy who came up with it is a frickin genius. Everyone goes to Spring Break to see girls flash the crowds...why not tape it and sell it? There's been a lot of trouble with underage girls, however...the creator has been sued for it in the past.

I really have a hard time understanding why a girl would flash her boobs in public.

I have a harder time understanding an event like Spring Break, where flashing boobs is practically the whole point to it. Give a girl some beads, she flashes her boobs. What does the girl get out of it? How can it be considered fun? It seems so incredibly stupid and juvenile.

Not that hard to understand, really

Basically.

So what I feel about the Girls Gone Wild style parties with girls humiliating themselves in crowds of jocks.

I mean, a girl goes to a party like that, she knows what to expect. If she regrets it afterwards, I have little to no sympathy. She could say "they humiliated me", but then you could say "no, you humiliated yourself". Does that mean to say I think that the guys there aren't doing any wrong? No. I think they're as bad as each other. Guys at those types of parties don't respect women, and the women that go to them don't respect themselves.

But when it starts crossing over to younger audiences, it gets a bit weird.

Take WWE for example. I loved when Stacy Kiebler was on that show. Man, she was damn hot. But thinking about the crazy stuff she'd do, and the stuff that would happen to her, and the fact that a large amount of children watch WWE.

She had a string of storylines where male wrestlers treated her like dirt and just a sexy trophy.
She was only ever on screen as something to oogle at.
She had a segment where she had a super soaker and fired it on some sexy girls tops while they bounced and jiggled in the ring, then she let Jerry Lawler fire the soaker at her ass.

Basically what they made her into was classic male objectification of her, and I don't think that's something that kids need to watch.

I know this is a little off topic but I have to agree here. This is something that really annoys me. I was at a RAW taping two years ago and they had some kind of 6 Divas tag match that involved water balloons, super soakers and maybe other items. Not only was it a waste of time ( there was hardly any wrestling in the match ) but there was an 8-10 year old kid sitting next to me. I kept looking over at his parents, wondering how they were justifying this to themselves.

I just have to say I think anything with the Girls Gone Wild brand on it is Grade A stupidity with a capital S. Of course if these girls want to humiliate themselves in front of a sleazy horndog with a camera, then they have every right to do that. Since I don't give a crap about this product I just choose not to watch it.

I think it's fine, girls chose whether to be on the show or not, no one is doing anything they don't want to do.

The world is too damn pc these days, call it objectifying, call it harmless entertainment- I don't care it's all good.

To be fair, the parents probably had no idea.

I'm pretty sure that match had been pre-announced. Even if that wasn't the case, there is no way I would take a kid to a WWE event or even let them watch WWE.

If they are of sound mind when they chose, then there is no problem. That is their right.

I mean not just Girls Gone Wild (which I just saw a commercial for on Spike TV, prompting me to start this thread) but any other form of so-called "male entertainment" such as...The Man Show, or anything else that would promote this kind of thing.

Personally, I think it's kind of disengenuious to call stuff like the girls on The Man Show the same as the girls on GGW. The big difference, I think, is that GGW is only vaguely legal, getting permission from girls who have more alcohol in their system then blood, while Man Show girls are usually dancers and such who soberly audition to be essentially cheerleaders with skimpier clothing.

Just imagine, you order the DVD, even have it sent to the office so the wife and kids don't find out. You settle down to watch it late one night, very exciting! As you're watching, you notice one girl has a smoking hot body, you begin to imagine being with her, then you notice....

AAHHHHHH!!! It's you're 18 year-old daughter!!!!!!!!

Now exactly how do you address this issue?

I wouldn't do it for that cheap. :o

No, I probably would.

I wouldn't need the alcohol, and I wouldn't feel bad about it later, either.

If the girls are doing things they'll regret later, or getting so drunk they're doing things they'll regret later, then they deserve what they get. Its not exploitative if a person knows exactly what they're doing.

The one girl in the commercial who says "Here's my boobs!" looks and sounds exactly like my boss.

Has anyone seen the commercial for Guys Gone Wild? I wonder how well those are selling?

Does your Boss like...."30 Somethings"?

I think it's more a form of coercion not independent choice. The guy the produces these videos gets them drunk enough to do stupid things then films them. I'd be ashamed of my mom if she had done this sort of thng when she was younger.

Supposedly every girl who does the vid signs a release. Whether or not every single one does, I don't know. But some girls are signing contracts with these people. If you sign a contract while drunk, its your own damn fault what you get yourself into.

Sometimes it a verbal agreement involving the shirt.

"By accepting this shirt you have agreed to appear on GGW."

Or something to that effect.

pretty much

Doesn't sound to me like the girls have a choice in the matter.

Specific incidents involving minors isn't really what the discussion is about. Of course filming naked minors is exploitative.

Adults showing their titays on camera is another story. Just because minors were harassed into it doesn't mean that the adults are exploited. If an adult woman can be convinced to show her titays because of harassment, then she's got bigger issues than her bits being on national video.

Like I said before- if these adult chicks are doing things they'll regret later then they deserve the negative consequences they get.

I think the titles are misleading. They're not wild. If they were wild, they'd be running around with chainsaws singing Motown classics.

Who knows what really happened there though? The girls went to a motel with the Girls Gone Wild producers and camermen, what did they think would happen? Also, who lets their 15 or 16 year olds go down to Spring Break? It really sounds like a case of, waking up the morning after drinking too much and regretting your actions, but we're minor so we can sue the guy. It was 5 girls, if they wanted to get out of there, they probably could have. Just playing devil's advocate here.

Sure Girls Gone Wild tapes are sleazy, but they're also always going to be around. Especially in our society where everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame, some girls will just see this as their 15 minutes. What's really the difference between this and knowing you're a horrible singer, but auditioning for American Idol on the odd chance you'll be one of those people that get to go in front of Simon, Randy and Paula to get laughed at on national TV.

That's my point.

These girls know what to expect going to these types of parties, and if they regret it they have no one to blame but themselves and their own stupidity.

If they have a blast and don't regret it, fine, more power to them.
