Do you think lack of anticipation will work out in Hulk's favor?

I've been reading up on this new film, read the script leak, read latino reviews extensive description, and was a quasi-fan of the last Hulk film (although I felt it was very anti-climatic).

From what I've heard from Variety and people around these boards is that the buzz around this film is well...nonexistent. Even for me, who visits Newsarama, Comics2film and e-newsi everyday, I've seen very little news in regards to this film. It's noticably less hyped than Iron Man, The Dark Knight and even films that seem to be in limbo like Justice League and the X-Men Origins films.

For a film that's being releases nearly a month after Iron Man there should be all sorts of teasers and images floating around, and interviews and stuff...but, for me, its been relatively quiet.

Do you think that this ultimately helps the film? I think it just might. The script is solid, the storyline is simple but appealing, and it has some good easter eggs for the fans. Also, while the cast isn't perfect, most of them are very capable actors.

So what do you think. Should this film stay under the radar until it's [close to] release and hit the ground smashing, or should it hype it up as big as the Hulk.

I think people are excited for it, but it's a tempered enthusiasm after the last movie (which I like BTW I just know it has issues). I think you'll see things pick up when they start releasing teasers, trailers, etc.

Yeah probably. But I still think that people (the general public) will be skeptical about this film prior to it's release. While most comic fans appretiated Ang Lee's attempt to bring in Banner's psychosis and past, I think the general public just flat out hated the film.

That's why it would be smart if they use some footage of Hulk and Abom fighting in downtown New York in not just the trailer but the teaser as well. They need to push that side of the film, let the audience know that Hulk will "Smash" in this film and against another giant monster type as well.

It's kind of the same reason a lot of Superman fans didn't like SR, he never really fought anyone and didn't throw a single punch throughout the whole movie.

No, of course not. How could a lack of anticipation ever benefit a movie? It has to eventually to pick up for a movie to do well at all, so I think you're confusing things. Yes, there's been a shortage of promotion in the way of things we can see & touch thus far, but no... there's been no "lack of anticipation" among those of us who are treating these forums like the Bible, wanting to find out more... to get excited, to see if what we want will be in the movie, to argue about what we know, etc. The general public? Who cares about them? As far as I'm concerned, they're clueless. They could see a trailer tomorrow and forget it by next morning. All they need is timely ad promotion in the months leading up to the movie. Others seem to think Christmas toys are going to play a big role... whatever. I think Marvel knows what they're doing and I'm not worried in the least.

Have to agree with BH. There's no lack of anticipation, just a lack of exposure at the moment.
When the promo train starts rolling is when the general public start paying attention, just as it is with most films really.

Oh there is a buzz, just look at all the posts and heated debates over a movie yet to release anything yet except a poster and pic from comic con. Watch, when it begins it will be bam!!! Hulk Smash hit at the box office!

When that promotional train starts to really roll (trailers, pics ect ect), then I believe interest will pick up. Especially when this is apparently going to be more akin to the tv show structure (and bruce jones' run) which is what alot of the general audiences were expecting with Ang Lee's film I believe.

If we don;t get something soon enough, I think it will backfire on Universal. They have to have enough time to build a public interest in the film. Especially if Ang's did so bad.

These studios have done major research on when to market to get the best results. Too much too soon is bad. Showing something incomplete could be bad in this case. To me there is no lack of anticipation at all. I think once the trailer comes out in December (if that's when it's released) we have 6 more months to wait. People will get sick of it if too much is released too soon. Just like that moron Kirsten Dunst who spilled the beans on Spidey 3 almost 2 years in advance. Knowing too much too soon kills the anticipation. That's why I won't read the scripts I have until after the movie comes out.

While I can't truely speak for most people who saw the film, I think that were just expecting a good film and not the ploding muddled mess we did get.

To answer the question of the thread, no I don't think that it will but I've been wrong before.

If this trailer isn't everything it is hyped up to be, then you can count on a disastrous box office performance. Pure and simple. So they better be playing their cards right.
