I honestly don't because in my mind he just doesn't deserve it. He spent an entire decade mocking this character up and down just to end up being rewarded for it? No thanks. Hal Jordan isn't his to drag through the mud anymore.

He didn’t mock the character, he mocked the movie he was in and the version of the character HE played. It’s not that serious.

Well, it makes little difference when the character is the one who suffered for it. You don't see John Stewart or Jessica Cruz being disrespected and portrayed as jokes in outside media the way you see it with Hal Jordan. You think they would've given another Green Lantern character the portrayal they gave Hal in the Lego Movies for instance? There's no reason to since they were not the ones in the Ryan Reynolds movie, Hal was. Because of that, Hal is the character Reynolds ended up mocking. Whether he meant to only mock the movie he starred in is of no relevance when the damage to the character who was in that movie is done. And yes, I'm aware WB are the ones to blame for how that movie turned out but his antics are what ended up damaging that character even further to the point where a decade later DC have been relentlessly shoving Hal down that same hole it took them decades to pull Aquaman out of. And unlike Aquaman they don't even need to do anything to "fix" Hal because they can just use other Lanterns instead. So no offense but it's not up to you to tell me what is or isn't serious.

You must be fun at parties.

I mean I wouldn't say I've been partying all that much since the pandemic hit but so far I've been told it's nice to have me around. Appreciate the concern tho.

From what I remember people trashed the film because they either wanted Reynolds to be the Flash, said that he was Deadpool, or thought that Christopher Nolan should finish his Batman anthology before DC Films should explore the use of other characters in film. The film wasn't that popular, but that shouldn't really exclude Ryan Reynolds from reprising the role again. The only thing that might hold that up is the recent contract he might sign with Marvel.

I don't really see the point or the appeal in bringing Reynolds back as GL for the Snyder Cut.

For me, it’s just because I was actually hyped af for Ryan when he first got cast. And I feel he was failed by WB. Now you can choose your own adventure on how you feel he handled his misgivings about it all, but I’d be open to seeing the guy get a real shot at the role if he’s actually down.

I was also hyped for Ryan as GL and actually think he did a good job with what he was given. But what "real shot at the role" are we even talking about? A scene or cameo that would basically amount to fan service?

The Snyder Cut already seems stuffed to the brim in terms of characters. I just don't feel adding GL is even necessary at this point.

That’s all fine. I’m just explaining the appeal to me personally. More than happy with a fun cameo at this point.

They should bring in Bradley Cooper. Didn't he audition with a Batman voice as GL?

I think people entertain the idea of Reynolds being brought back to play a different version of the same character, just because the same thing happened in Deadpool. The difference is Reynolds had shown charisma as Deadpool even in Origins Wolverine, while in Green Lantern it wasn't just the writing. He was never a good fit for the character.

I'd definitely be more interested in the film if they brought back Reynolds.

Bradley Cooper should have been Luthor.
Drool. Yes. My most wanted comic book casting.

Sure, Reynolds showing up would be really fun! I kind of like the idea of the Snyder Cut being crammed with as much insane, wall-to-wall weird fan service as they can fit in there.

I watched GL once, twice at most, but what I remember thinking was that he was ok in a pretty disappointing adaptation. I don't see the excitement over him returning tbh....the possibility of an A list actor popping up as Hal out of the blue is much more exciting to me.

This does stink of Reynolds trying to get Disney to make a move. No idea where it started.

What's the current status on the rumor? People still thinking this is happening or did the Deadpool news put the kibosh on it?

TBH sounds to me like it was a bunch of nothing. Apparently even the people who were spreading it in the first place have now started changing their tunes.

Yes and no. DanielRPK on his Patreon apparently told that Reynolds still wants in for JL2. The interesting part of that being that there's talk of a JL2.
