The Dark Knight Do you want to see a tragic ending in TDK?

I disagree completely. What's the point of that?

"Uh, oh! Dent's been scarred by the Joker! What happens next? Tune in 3 or 4 years from now to find out, Batfans!"

It's unnecessary. Each of these films should be their own complete story. Notice how Begins said so subtly that the Joker would be in the next installment? It's not like the film ended with Batman meeting the Joker for the first time. That would be a cliffhanger.

Not only would the scarring of Dent in TDK be unnecessary, but it would take away from the story in TDK. This story isn't about Dent getting scarred and turning into Two Face. That's why Two Face's origin should be left for the third film.

I think a cliffhanger ending would be perfect.

I think Rachel should die near the end and after The Joker is captured, Batman should return to the Batcave, destroy some equipment, rip off his mask, quit being Batman and then breake down crying with Alfred consoling him..... that would be my perfect ending.

EWWWW. Dont look up heath Ledger on google images. And DO NOT SCROLL DOWN. Its a pic of him naked. And I'm not gay.

um...define "tragic" and "end"...I would look to see more tragedy piled on the plate...but not necessarily at the end and certainly not in the beginning

If such a short and simple scene can take away all the attention from the previous 2 hours of TDK...then the film is a failure with or without that ending.

The film should be about Batman's struggle with the line between Justice and crime (he is technically a criminal, remember) and the parallel crimefighter in the film is Harvey Dent, who meets a tragic fate. This can be used as a foil to Batman and very effectively, much how it was used in TLH/DV

The point of TDK according to Nolan is that it’s about "things having to get worse before they get better." Hence the name "The Dark Knight/Night.

Harvey is just one of many tragedies that Bruce has to endure as he wages his "War on Crime."

I still think seeing Harvey scarred and closing out with a final shot of the two-sided coin would be a great ending.

This type of ending would be cool.....very somber....and it would get the general movie audience and us fans pumped for the next film...

Bruce is at his parents gravesite near the manor reflecting on things his parents taught him about tragedy in life....the sun has just set.....Alfred and Dr. Leslie Thompkins start to walk toward Bruce and the gravesite and stand behind him whhile Bruce stares at the graves and leaves two roses. The music from the end of Begins is playing...and Alfred tells Bruce the news stated D.A. Harvey Dent has escaped from the hospital and that a Doctor is dead. Bruce says "my god" and the camera pans out from showing Bruce staring at the gravesite with Alfred and Leslie looking on behind him.....and then while the music plays the camera starts going up toward the cloudy night sky......the music ends and at the sametime the Bat signal is highlighted in the sky. Movie ends....credits start.....

So you guys want an Empire Strikes Back sort of film?

Nah I don't want this.

I want TDK ending to look like BB with Batman, Gordon and Dent on rooftop scene. They will be discussing the trial on Joker, which is going to happen.

Yes , i'd definately want to see a tragic ending like Harvey Dent getting scarred. That is ..IF HARVEY DENT is in TDK.

But IMO i think it's a bit too early for that. They have to set up Harvey Dent and to scrar him at the end of the 2nd movie would be a bit too early.
There was a rumor floating around that the second movie would mainly have the joker as the major villain with Dent traying to take him down and the second movie would be dent prosecuting Joker and then getting scarred. That would've had more of an effect on the audience.

And they better include some of the panels of Batman:TheLong Halloween and Batman:Dark Victory.
Epsecially the panels when the trinity ( Dent , Gordon and Bats) talk.

How is it too early for Harvey Dent?

HE'S ALREADY CONFIRMED TO BE IN IT.

Actually, it wasn't the rumour. Goyer told this in one of his interviews.

Anyways confirmed ? Cool .
How long till we get an announcement who's gonna play him.
And Cinemaman , i knew i had read it somewhere. Thnx for pointing that out. That is (was) the basic idea for the next 2 movies and IMO they should stick to that.

How exactly did Terminator 2 have a tragic ending:confused: Maybe the first one did but not 2.
I cried in front of my friends which is always tragic:O

I agree that the ending of T2 is tragic. Tragin endings shouldn't be just qualified as ending where bad things happen.

With T2 you have this great build up of Arnie towards John and then he kills himself. Even tough the good guys win , one of them still has to die.

Anyways , yes. A Dark (tragic) ending of TDK should be there .

I'd like the film to end on a cliffhanger ala ESB, but I absolutely hate it when films just end abruptly, with no satisfying conclusion at all, as what happened with matrix reloaded. Movie's should never be made as glorified t.v. series' IMO, they should be able to stand alone as good movies.

I want the ending of TDK to have a death and I don't care who it is once it is not the main characters like Batman(duh), Alfred and Gordon.
