The Amazing Spider-Man Does anyone else get an empty feeling from this movie?

The only empty feeling I got is that I'm aware of the scenes that were deleted and I wanna see 'em!

I see it as what was presented on film. He beats the hell out of him,

When did that happen? The guy was okay enough to gleefully point a gun in Peter's face with intent to kill.

the man stumbled and fell out the window (as Spidey watched and did nothing) as a direct result to what Spider-Man did to him.

The guy tried to run and stumbled. That's his karma coming back to him, just as Peter's karma resulted in Ben's death. We all have a responsibility. Not just Peter.

It's why Stan Lee allowed for Peter to NOT use his powers to go overboard, but hand him over to the police ALIVE instead. That man didn't have a chance in hell against Spider-Man even with a gun, the situation of what's to happen lie in Spider-Man's hands.

Nope. The Comics Code is why Stan didn't allow Peter to go overboard.
And as so many here like to use to defend TASM- Peter wasn't Spider-Man yet. He was inexperienced in the use of his power and extremely inexperienced about dealing with lethal combat. He had never had a gun pointed in his face before (Hell, in that scene he was barely getting the hang of web-swinging) Not to mention his emotions were all in knots since regardless this is the man who killed his uncle.

Peter had no moral obligation to save that lowlife. He did have an obligation to stop him earlier. And that was the lesson he walked away with.

"With Great Power..." in this situation means, you do the right thing (especially when you're MORE powerful than your opponent) by not allowing yourself to become a person who no longer cares for someone else's LIFE.

There was nothing to suggest that Peter didn't care about the thug's life. But the thug made his own choice and paid for his choice.

Spider-Man failed Uncle Ben. Sam Raimi failed Spider-Man. Translation: Reboot it, start over and try again.

And thus far, Webb is failing. Raimi was actually quite a success and it's playing out as such.

..Webb is failing? how?

Certainly not in public opinion, nor box office numbers.

Not moving a muscle, then calmly walking to the window and looking down with a cold gaze, suggests he didn't give a rats patootie about the thug's life.

Hell yea! SM4 ftw!

"Unleash the *****" would be a better tagline. From a marketing standpoint, of course...

I was jokin' around..
but I do advocate Black cat for future spidey movies.

Hey, if there are more movies after this trilogy, maybe if one is focused on the symbiote, we could see Black Cat. :P

That was shock. And then regret. But that's an interesting interpretation on your part.

Public opinion is keeping people staying out of the theaters. Everyone I know thought this film wasn't very good.

Every other Spidey film won their first two weekends. This one lost to Ice Age 4. And despite a wider release than every other Spidey film, higher ticket prices and the 3D and Imax boost, it's still trailing way behind the other films.

There was nothing regretful about his face. He didn't even look shocked or had a "God, what do I do?" expression. It was a "Good riddance." face.

Err.. everyone I know in real life loved the movie, and I gathered that most people loved the movie through youtube and facebook comments.. not to mention the user scores on Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, and the Cinemascore.

The Amazing Spider-Man obviously wasn't going to make as much money as the others, due to the fact that it's a reboot, and it came out close to big contenders such as Ice Age 4 and The Dark Knight Rises.

Except when he could but didn't save him.

Obviously he couldn't. Or chose not to. Whatever.

Yeah, he chose to stumple and fall.

He chose to continue being a violent idiot and paid the price for it.

Denial is fun for the rest.

I've been seeing alot of that around here.

Yeah, here preparing for SM4 release.

You're about the only one still stuck in Spidey 4 mode. Move on like the rest of us.

No, his was shock. Mine was good riddance.

There was no reason to be in shock. He watched him fall. He did nothing to prevent it. Not a single muscle flex. If he had tried to save him, but ****ed up and failed, he'd a reason to be in shock. But no, several seconds as he stumbled and fell, he didn't do a single thing and then didn't even bat an eyelash.

Peter watched someone die and probably thought he deserved it. If Tobey tried to sell shock, he failed, hard.

Sure, man. Dollars are just having a self-cloning process and numbers keep growing out of that alone.

Everyone I know thought this film wasn't very good.

Imaginary friends are cool. Not a good source though.

This is a film that comes out after SM3, Spider-man's Batman & Robin. Batman Begins, while a great film, didn't make 400m.

Obviously he couldn't. Or chose not to. Whatever.

Obviously Raimi get the character. Or doesn't. Whatever.

He chose to continue being a violent idiot and paid the price for it.

Yeah, violent people stumble and fall from windows. It's just natural.

I've been seeing alot of that around here.

Being the source yourself, denial is too close to miss it.

You're right. Raimi's franchise failed and was forgotten.

And, if you're looking to make a case for Peter saving a murderer, you've failed. Hard.

El Payaso, I wouldn't say that the Raimi trilogy was forgotten..

I still watch it.

it did fail however.

I was talking about my imaginary friends. Imaginary friends' opinions are allowed. :woot:

Can we just stop the e-fight? It doesn't exactly inspire good conversation.

Sure, man. Dollars are just having a self-cloning process and numbers keep growing out of that alone.

Imaginary friends are cool. Not a good source though.

And you'd know. I at least hope you're very happy with them.

Begins wasn't a great film. It made the money it deserved.

Obviously Raimi get the character. Or doesn't. Whatever.

Which is why people overwhelmingly prefer the Raimi films.

Yeah, violent people stumble and fall from windows. It's just natural.

Let's hope so.

Being the source yourself, denial is too close to miss it.

Again

You're right. Raimi's franchise failed and was forgotten.

There's that denial again. Keep 'em flying.

I got empty feeling after waching TASM when I remembered the time i spent wasted watching Spider-Man 3 in theaters.
