Does Black Panther increase odds of Falcon as Captain America?

I'm personally on the Bucky-for-Cap Train.

I never understood the idea of Falcon becoming Cap. He's already Falcon and a great character on his own. That's just IMO, but whatever.

Agreed. Let Cap be Cap, let Falcon be Falcon, and let Winter Soldier be Winter Soldier. I'd rather see a Falcon solo film or Falcon just become the leader of the Avengers as The Falcon as opposed to dressing up as someone else.

I understand this and even somewhat agree with it, but if anyone's story should culminate in donning the Captain America identity, it's Bucky's. He was Steve's best friend and would likely feel a deep responsibility to assume his mantle and continue his legacy.

I don't see that as likely. First, there's not really much real world precedent for that. If Lady Gaga were to die, I wouldn't expect her best friend to be like, "I will become the new Lady Gaga," and I don't think that would go over too well. Great athletes are honored by having their numbers retired, not by having other great athletes wear them. Second, as a former assassin, Bucky isn't exactly the most qualified to take up Steve's mantle, so I think he'd be uncomfortable with doing so, and I think the others would be uncomfortable with it, too.

Now, Marvel could make it happen if they wanted, but in that case they'd be doing it because they wanted it, not because it would be the most natural outcome.

What I'd like to see is some version of the following events:

- Steve Rogers dies.
- RDJ shrugs off his grudge against Bucky and tells him, "The world needs captain america" while handing him the shield. Sam Wilson is standing in the room with them. Bucky is grateful, but responds by saying, "Anyone can stand for what Cap stood for." and hands the shield to Sam.
- The next Captain America movie is called "Sentinels of Liberty" and both Falcon and Bucky sport the stars and stripes, and each dons the shield at different times during the film. The film ends with Rogers returning to the fray, secretly a Skrull.

This is just for fun of course. But I'd watch.
