I never much worried about the look. Honestly, Cheadle looks more like Rhodey's traditional depiction than Howard did.

Neither look exactly like the comic Rhodes, but I'm happy with Cheadle. Looking at the screen of him in the War Machine armor, he just pulls it off.

I would not have bought TH in/or as WM.

Having said. Even if IM wasn't my favorite, Don Cheadle would have brought me over if I was on the fence about this movie....of which I AM NOT

Warning-superfan beef- My thing is James Rhodes has always worked for Startk. Sure they were best buds, but Rhodes hasn't flown anything except for the military rescue in the first one. He's not just a good pilot, but a great one. I've been watching the original again and Rhodes-which they seem to have fixed in 2- was little more than character dressing. It can be argued Pepper was more instramental. Although they both saved Tony.

We also didn't get the cool Tony Stark transportation that Layton gave us in the #200 and upward run of the 616. Large ships and A.I.M. / S.H.I.E.L.D. like transports. It's a reach. and I'm hearing that James is not as close to Tony here in 2. Which I have yet to see about.

Imho, the best choice looks-wise for Rhodey was Morris Chestnut.

Chestnut was always my preferred pick. Overall, I thought he'd have fit the comic depiction of Rhodey to a t.

But movie Rhodey is a slightly different character, at least he was in IM. The biggest example for me is the temperament. Comic Rhodey wouldn't have whined about Tony blowing him off, like movie Rhodey did in the plane. He probably would've gotten pretty pissed off. He's always had a bit of a short fuse, and never took slights from Tony, real or perceived, very well.

As it is though, I think Don Cheadle will do a real bang-up job in the movie. I think he'll win a lot of those who miss Terrence Howard right now over.

i think Don Cheadle will do well in this movie also i did like Terrence Howard also in Iron Man 2. i heard they will make a little hint in Iron Man 2 about the change of Rhodey.

Jamiee Foxx is great, but then it would become a comedy pissing match between he and RDJ. He's a passable action star, as if he didn't have enough other ways to earn a living. Not really, Morris Chestnut IMO has a pompus air about his, albeit limited, roles. Rhodey is his own man no question, but he's still a loyal friend, employee and serviceman.

Mike Jai White- and maybe his face had not healed from when the Joker busted him out. Would have been Patrick Stewert/Charles X. perfect to me.

it wont become a comedy match between he and RDJ these two acted together in a serious role The Soloist. also Jamie Foxx prove he can do serious roles i.e. Jarhead, Collateral, The Kingdom, Law Abiding Citizen, etc.

Foxx does not look like Howard at all. they have different features, built and heres a shocker they both have different skin tone

While I don't doubt the performance will be ace, my biggest gripe with Cheadle replacing Howard is still just that since the two look nothing like each other, its a big suspension of disbelief to think that this is the same character.
