Iron Man 2 Don Cheadle joins IRON MAN 2!!!

Do you agree with Don Cheadle taking over for Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2?

  • I'm all for it, bring on Don Cheadle!

  • Recasting sucks. Marvel should have kept Terrence Howard!

  • I don't care one way or the other.

Good grief, Foxx as Rhodey would've sucked hard.

I always thought Micheal Jai White or Mekhi Phifer would've made a good Rhodey.

Maybe they can recast one of those two in the 3rd part.

I strongly disagree.

Jamie Foxx is a much better actor than Michal Jai White or Mekhi Phifer.

He has the chops to be a good Rhodey. Just watch The Kingdom or Jarhead and you'll see he'd be more than capable of playing Rhodey.

Terrance Howard sucked as Rhodey.

Don Cheadle will play the role well but damn if he doesn't seem too small and nowhere near intimidating enough to play Jim Rhodes.

He may not hold the intimidation factor that Rhodes has in the comics, but I would've taken anything of the weak voiced Howard... Seriously... That guy does not have an intimidating voice at all...

but also i think they should of gotten a bigger guy to be Jim

Perhaps, but a shortfall in size can be compensated with attitude - and Cheadle has shown before he can play characters with attitude before, his badass character in Out of Sight being most notable for me.

Out of Sight..
Oh damn, the Clooney Out of Sight O.K. casue Denzel made an Out of Sight too. Cheadle was Mouse in Devil in a Blue Dress tho. He was that dude there.

I'm at the point where I'm just - pleased as Effing punch!, 2 actors have played live action James Rhodes. :awesome:

This thread needs a shot in the arm, I know Don has been talking about his biggest movie role SOMEWHERE....:word:

Yup, half the time it seemed like he was a moment away from bursting out laughing.

I've seen out of sight before and the character he played was hardly badass to me. It was just some tough talking guy who had bigger people do his dirty work.

As I said before I'm a really big Cheadle fan and I'm sure he'll do a good job but I have a hard time believing he'll have the presence that Rhodey should have. Even in the few snippets we've seen of him playing Rhodes he doesn't seem to have it.

I guess you'd need you watch it again and see the part were Cheadle's character shiv's a guy.

I've seen the movie MULTIPLE times. Cheadle has never been very convincing to me in roles like that, it always comes across as him trying way too hard.

Fair enough - we'll have to agree to disagree. I was just pointing out that his character DIDNT get bigger people to do his dirty work, not all of the film at least. He was prepared to get his hands dirty.

And anyway, even if he was just 'tough talking', doesnt that represent a tougher character than the ones more closely associated with Cheadle?

It's a tougher character than he's usually associated with, but it's not "Rhodey tough". Jim Rhodes is badass in and out of the armor, the kind of guy that when he walks into the room other people instinctively stand up straight.

I still think Cheadle will do a great job It's just a minor nitpick so far.

Howard cant pull a military tough guy with that voice...hey toneey

Cheadle will do a much better job

I'm sure he'll do a better job, but will he make me see Jim Rhodes and not Don Cheadle playing Jim Rhodes? That is the test.

Of course there are concerns about Cheadle. I recently watch Traitor... decent movie, but Cheadle didn't come off as badd ass as I think they were hope. I think Wylie was right - sometimes during that particular movie - I felt uncomfortable when Cheadle was trying to be more action hero...

That being said, I think he is leaps better than Howard... There is also a question of frame... Howard did have more of the boxy frame that Rhodes has, but he looked soft... He didn't have the frame as like... maybe Jason George has (lawyer from that Eli Stone Show) - However, Cheadle is more small/round headed... If you were in a fight with him - I feel like he would pull some kung fu shizzle on you, but Rhodes? Rhodes would just take you down and give you an ass beating.

Bah! I'd take Cheadle any day over Howard and Fox....they are both divas who are more trouble than they are talented.

Jai-white, he's another story, though I'm hoping he can play T'challa or Luke Cage one day.

Wait, since when is Jamie Fox a diva?

Since he won an oscar (at least since then, anyway...)

I'm asking for specific examples....I never heard anything about him being a problem to work with at all. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of talented directors and actors who are pleased to work with him.

Tony: "Well you look different."
Rhodey: "Training accident."

Yep!

Goggle it. Fox is a NOTORIOUS diva on set. I guess that's why LL fattened his lip up.

You brought it up so you go google it. :oldrazz:

Far as I know the whole LL thing was an argument that ended with LL punching Jaime. I don't see how that counts of diva behavior.

if there's more than that I really don't know as I've never heard anything about him being a "diva" and he continually gets work with good to great directors and actors.

That's old news by now, there been plenty jamie foxx trippin tales. I believe he acts a certain way too, I think he's talented enough to feel a certain way about HIS kind of work though, and he probly should. Howard no, guitar and all

Seriously, you have never heard Fox in a interview just before Ray was released and afterwards? Dude was the biggest diva/cry baby bragging about his performances! That's why you don't see him getting the roles a oscar winner normally gets becuase of it. Dude is overrated.

PS-why goggle something that I already know? You don't believe us so you should see for yourself.
