Why do the heroes make doom out to be such a bad guy?

I am really only mildly familiar with him...of course I know who he is and hes an egomaniac and all that, but I was thinking about stuff....and how maybe he would make a great president of the MU's world.

Think about it....he already rules one country and the people love him, and hes cleaned up crime and actually seems to give a rat's ass about his people. And then, in 2099, although my memory of it is a little fuzzy, I remember the world being in pretty good shape under Doom.

Who's with me?

D2OO8M!

It was a Utopia actually, which was a great interesting angle IMO. Its one of the reasons I can buy Doom's crying at the WTC.

Maybe because he's so obsessed with destroying the Fantastic Four, sent Franklin Richards to HELL! Gives no free will to his people even though he takes care of them. Teams up with supervillains like the Red Skull. And pretty much wants world domination.

But as has been shown, in canon. Doom takes over the world, and makes it a utopia. He must be doing something right.

He flayed the skin off of his one true love in order to wear it as magical armour, granting him more power. Let's be honest here, Doom is not a good guy.

Sometimes you gotta slap a ho.

Good point. He did put a little kid in hell though.

he seems deadset against Utopia in Fantastic Four: The End. i think it would be a bad idea to have a guy who aligned with demons be the president; like The Omen-bad.

i could create a Utopia too if i were allowed to take away people's free will.

One big reason why that will never happen? He wasn't born in the states. :p

Doom is a great leader. He is a horrible person, but sometimes that helps him being a great leader. He is capable of making very tough descisions for the sake of his people and not question himself. Sometimes, a good deal of ruthlesness is required when holding major political power. The only thing that makes him truely villainous, however, is his arrogance and singleminded rivalry with Reed Richards.

So can you guys reccomend me any really good Doom stories avalible in Trade? Whats that Utopia story you were talking about Darth? Do you mean 2099?
