dosent it suck that both of the major comic flicks in 06 failed to hit the mark?

Oh and HIgh Voltage that was the stupidest thing I have ever read. This site biased? Bull****. There was a time where this site called X-Men, along with Spider-Man the jrewels of Marvel Comics' films. It gave X3 equal coverage and was unbiased (unlike a ****ty site, like AICN) until it came out. The movie blew.

It oopened much bigger than SR, this is true, but it also sank like a rock because none of the fans liked it enough to repeat viewings and while the general audience enjoyed it (not knowing what they missed), they mostly saw it as forgettable disposable entertainment and did not see it again either nor did they recommend it to friends. Why else would it not hold onto number 1 as long as X2 and have larger drops when X2 had to go up against Matrix sequels and X3 only had....the Break-UP.

And box office isn't a guage, quality is a guage. And Kevin Spacey is at top form and don't diss Routh as Superman or misrepresesntation when they turn Wolverine into Cyclops with attitude in X3 and Bosworth is a much better actress than Halle Berry....I could continue but suffice to say that the general opinion of X3 among non-fans is average (X1 at release was a sleeper good hit, and X2 considered great) and among fans it rates at mediocre. As the film ages (and the newness wears off) it will likely join the ranks of Batman Forever and Daredevil in public opinion.

Superman Returns I think will end up more like Batman Begins, not a huge hit but appreciated enough by fans (though not nearly as much as BB, albeit) and hopefully by general audiences come WOM and DVD though.

For me, Superman Returns delivered and surpassed the great quality of BB, so it's not a disappointment. It is a disappointment that Fox continues to ruin their properties though.

QFT.

I enjoyed X3 more than all of those movies. Hardly a "failure" IMO.

And I go to the movie to be entertained, not to watch some badly paced, anti-clamatic, soap opera like Superman Returns.

Man....you're coolness factor just went down 130% with that statement. :(

Biased, biased, biased , biased, biased.

goddamn studios rushing things and studio politics b.s.

Superman Returns was laughably bad (the plane sequence was one the best ever, but the rest of the movie was pretty laughable)

Superman returns was great....X3 was Garbage and so Dissappointing...I was waiting for X3 more than SR...but when I saw it,I mean it acutally Sucked!!:D

X3 was ok...SR was awesome

I guess I enjoyed the action in x3 more because it was less predictable.

The suspensful moments built up in SR were anything but that. :(

I see things going both ways for these two films. one being overrated and the other being underrated.

X3 left a lot to be desired and definitely had much more potential than what was delivered, but I still enjoyed it more than SM2. IMO, that movie was vastly overrated, and even though X3 was far from the quality of the first 2 films, I still view it as a solid resolution to the trilogy.

And I loved SR. IMO, BB doesn't hold a candle to it.

But those are just my opinions, nothing more.

These posts are funny, and Superman Returns has many plot holes, like stars in the galaxy.:supes: :down

Meh, guess I'm one of the lucky few --- I absolutely loved both Superman Returns and X-Men: The Last Stand. :o

Highvoltage you are one to talk about bias. Pff.

And as I said, you can't call misrepresentations of a single damn character in SR when they completely take a **** on Wolverine, Xavier and Magneto in X3, the 3 characters that Singer most nailed. Logan is turned into Cyclops with attitude (team speeches, giving orders, talking openly about his undying love for Jean....please), Xavier is turned into a fantical old fool who brings about his own destruction by "caging the beast," and Magneto betrays his relationship and dichotemy in the previous films by turning his back on Mystique (he would have done something for her, maybe mercy kill her or something other than leave her crying after she saved his life) and allowing his men....er brothers....to be cured because he doesn't feel the time has come to throw burning cars and unleash Jean yet.

You want to talk the butchering of characters just look no further than X3 then.

Or how about Jean/Phoenix? That, I fear, was a worse butchering than anything those three went through. This is a character known for being "the spark of creation" or whatnot and pretty much commanding every aspect of personality Jean has ever had (without Phoenix she's a terrible bore), yet she's relegated to standing around and acting as if someone dumped pig's blood all over her at the prom. Except blander. And more boring.

Since the quality and "failure" of a film is purely subjective, there's no possible way this can actually be proven..so here's my opinion. I thought X3 was a good film and the best of the three. I hadn't seen SR yet to make a determination as to it's quality or success.

Sorry man, but the site really isn't biased against any superhero. X3 was a fine movie, but the reason people rag on it so much is because it deviated from the source material. People are going to do that when any movie changes things they liked in the comics on film. It's a fact of life. I liked X3, but I was also very annoyed because they changed lots of things from the comics, just like I was annoyed that they changed things in the Spider-man movies, and even parts in Batman Begins.

^^So I take it you were equally annoyed with X-men 1 and 2 and every other superhero film thats been made since S:TM? "Cause they've ALL changed things from the comics.

Superman Returns was leagues ahead of X-Men 3. X-Men 3 was mindless, action, Superman Returns was a *****ing masterpiece. I probably wouldn't hate X3 so much if they had just not killed Cyclops, and given him half of Logan's scenes. They even could have even killed him at the end, but just pointlessly killing Cyclops at the beginning of the Dark Pheonix storyline, then never mentioning it again was just inexcusable.

But yeah, it does suck that this summer we had one mediocre comic film that did good box office, and one great film that's doing mediocre box office. It's too bad Superman Returns opened before what's probably gonna be one of the highest grossing movies ever.

Superman Returns, though underwhelming at the box office, was much better than I was expecting. I can't wait to see it again. V for Vendetta was great too.

X3, on the other hand, was quite disappointing.

why are you such a moron? i said BOTH failed. and you're the guy to be calling anyone biased. As I recall, you're the guy who thinks the DC logo ripped off captain america's shield and that batman's costume ripped off the black panthers.

even a monkey couldnt make **** like that up.

he also claimed that the buildings in BB ripped off Daredevil....even though they look nothing alike, and DD basically ripped of the buildings in Tim Burtons batman, and all this other crazy stuff.

Dudes a marvel zombie, and i dont see how he comes off calling people biased

I enjoyed X3. It wasn't necessarily great, but vert enjoyable.
Superman Returns was great, but I liked Batman Begins better.

SR did deliver, nonetheless.

I enjoyed X3 and BB. They both surpassed my personal expectations.

Superman Returns gave me the impression that it was some rush job, which might have been part of the probelm.
