dosent it suck that both of the major comic flicks in 06 failed to hit the mark?

I just saw Superman Returns. I'm somewhat surprised by the controversy over it. It felt a bit rushed and muddled, but it was still a great movie.

Superman Returns completely surpassed all of my expectations, and that hasn't happened since I saw Jurassic Park in the theaters. Unfortunately, X3 was kind of bleh.

I saw SR last night, and I loved it. I didn't think it was rushed. I liked the pacing a lot. It really didn't feel like a 2 1/2 hour movie.

That's my problem with it. The first half was brilliant, taking it's time and setting up ambience and character. The beginning on the farm was amazingly beautiful. But right from the point Lois gets on the boat to the end, the structure gets shoddy and the whole thing just gets a little too frenetic. Same problem I had with Batman Begins, and in a way I feel like the last half of the two movies are very similar. Suddenly the female love interest goes somewhere to investigate and everything gets a little too loose and ridiculous.

It was all brilliantly shot, however.

Huh. Personally I thought the beginning of SR was the most poorly paced part of the movie.

I still have my complaints about act one. But I definitely LIKED the movie.

And even if you didn't like it, how could you not feel something when Lois sees Superman fly by that plane window? Are you a soulless monster?

Beacuse it was extremely unfaithful to the comics, and was ripped to shreds by Fox in the editing room.

...mainly. :)

Well i guess the Comic people and the regular people would think different.

as i've said plenty and plenty of times. they make comic book movies for the general public and not really for the comic fans.

hey all you gotta do is stop going to see them and maybe there stop. since all you people have nothing better to do but cry over a movie.

Oh, you're one to talk, mister creepy obsession. :p

X3 was VERY disappointing, but still better than X1 IMO. I won't even bother seeing SR.

I'm not the one pissing and moaning about a movie. there suppose to entertain you. no you look over single piece of footage and critasize that they should have done this instead of that.

I'm not a Super Man purist by any means but I certainly thought it was a really good film. Despite popular opinion, X3 rocked. I just wish it had been as long as SR.

LMAO @ this dude even attempting a "no life joke".

Anyway, I thought they were both succesful in there own right. X Men : TLS BO wise, and SR quality qise. I thought SUperman Returns was great! Batman Begins was a better film, but SR was still good. I don't understand people that Say SR had better action than BB, BB had way more action, and superman never threw one punch!

The thing is it was a crappy movie in general, IMO, due to Fox's editing. The film didn't devote any time to exposition. The plot was little more than one action scene stacked upon another. That has nothing to do with comic inaccuracy.

But, because it is a comic book movie, about a group of characters I personally enjoy a great deal, it does mean more - is more upsetting - than if it was just some random bad movie. And that's why it's talked about.

And I really don't even care what "having a life" has anything to do with it. You spent a ungodly amount of time over the past few weeks trying to kill Cinemaman's enthusiasm over SR. Is that really worth the time? Is that what someone with a "life" does in his spare time? I don't know. I don't judge people that quickly. Maybe you shouldn't either.

No, you're the one most likely to be a creepy celebrity stalker.

That is actually an excellent rebuttle.

I'm rubber, you're glue. Everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you. Nanny nanny boo boo.

Nanny nanny boo boo

I just laughed at that.

I thought SR was really good. It might not hav been up 2 par with SM 2, X2, or BB, but those 3 are some of the best ever. X3 was a dissapointment however.

wouldn't it be weird if the superhero send up :my super ex girlfriend" was and DID better than BOTH sr and the last stand?

Yes. But then it'd also make me very, very angry. I'd might even Hulk out.

In any case, as I said previously, I don't think SR is a failure, I will say the number of Fox/Marvel failures over the past two years is beginning to grate on me. SM3 will - hopefully - be a welcomed return to glory.

Well, I´d say neither of the three comic book movies released this year is a bomb at the BO, just neither is a behemoth either. I think X3 in the end did similarly to the previous movies, I just don´t get why Fox spent so much money when they know the franchise is not Spider-Man. With SR, I´d put the blame less on the movie or character and more on WB for putting right against the phenomenon of the year. Now that the rush for POTC2 has estabilized, SR is having better legs, so you can´t say the movie was terribly rejected.
