FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER

Doug Jones
is ...
THE SILVER SURFER

fan4~surferlogo.jpg

Doug Jones talks about the coveted role of The Silver Surfer in 20th Century Fox's much anticipated sequel to 2005's box-office hit, Fantastic Four ... Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, due for release in June 2007.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT PLAYING SILVER SURFER?
I am thrilled out of my mind. It has been so difficult for me to sit on this developing news, with all the casting speculation happening on the web. As my research into this character continues, I am falling more and more in love with him ... his valiance, his nobility, his stance for truth, hope, faith, and his history of self-sacrifice. So I fully understand why his fans are talking so much about his introduction appearance in this sequel, and why they would be concerned with who plays him.

CGI? ... MOTION CAPTURE?
As for the technical aspects of this character, I can't give away the secrets of how it will all come together right now. Will it be exactly like Gollum from "Lord Of The Rings"?..... not "exactly". Will I be completely camera-ready when I step onto the set?..... not "exactly". Can I get more specific?..... not "exactly". I'd rather you go see the movie and let this character dazzle your imagination when you see him in all of his cutting edge, other-worldly technology for the first time. You have to trust me that it will be worth the short wait.
What I can tell you is that 20th Century Fox has spared no expense in this collaborative effort to bring together the absolute best in visual and practical effects that will make your jaw drop. The Silver Surfer will truly look like "The restless, streaking stranger from the farthest reach of space ... this glistening, gleaming seeker of truth."

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Well for now, I try to stay in tip top shape as we rehearse and film with each new scene. Just as with my portrayal of Abe Sapien in HELLBOY, my one biggest concern is to play Silver Surfer in such a way that the fans will be satisfied and proud of my part in this collaboration. I honestly hope I can do this role justice, and I promise I will give my all. Wish me well, and the rest of the cast, too!! We need you rooting for us!
There's Love!

Well, finally.

I think Jones really does look the part. But man, I'm pretty sure that's the longest neck I've ever seen on another human being.

Sorry Hellmistress I thought I did. I put the source on my myspace blog but forgot to put it here. Done. See the Louis Leterrier thread. Louis wants some input...it's now or never. His words.

Thank you, dear heart. Sorry for being a nag. :yay:

Malus, I agree that Doug looks the part. As for the neck, once they're done with him, you won't even notice it. Personally, I think it ads to his elegance when he's acting, like the very long fingers on his hands.

>^^<

Wow, great news!!!I'm really very happy with the way FF:ROTSS is going!!!

Those lanky, elegant features are perfect for Silver Surfer.

I'm so glad they didn't go with some musclebound type.
I can't believe I ever said Vin Diesel deserved consideration.

Nobody's gonna recognize Doug in this film BTW. LOL Again we're seeing a CGI character from WETA. Doug is for reference and motion as per the last bit of news.

I wouldn't be putting any money on that if I were you.

Holy crap! LMAO

Well, I'm glad that his involvement is finally put to rest, and we can at least move on from "who is playing SS". As for the other debate. *sighs*

HM, am I going to have to get out my signed copy of The Art of Hellboy: The Movie and let my 6 year old read it while he's eating a sloppy joe?

I just calculated the time differance. What the bloody blazes are you doing up at, what, 5:30 in the morning on a Saturday? You cannot tell me the cows appreciate being milked at oh dark hundred.

And a bit more on topic, here's to hoping the suits at Fox aren't as stupid as the suits at Sony and let Doug do the voice of SS.

>^^<

According to Rothman Doug is doing "motion capture" which is in line with the HReporter press release on Weta. The only one making conflicting statements are those not associated directly with Marvel and Fox.

Yep, it's early. Or late. One of my cows just calved, so it's HM playing midwife. Oh, and thankfully I don't milk my cows - they're beef cattle, so they get to hang about in a field and eat grass and have babies that we eat at a later date. If I had a dairy herd it would be a regular 3am date with a milking parlour. No thanks.

We'll just have to see what Fox does. If they had their way they'd probably deny Doug was even playing SS. OOPS. Did I say too much? Naughty HM.

Doug Jones = Class Act.

FF2 is very fortunate to have him, imo.

The interview and confirmation have been removed from the site. WTF??

Sorry, guys. Ask Fox. And that, I'm afraid, is all I'm allowed to say. I can't even confirm or deny that Doug is actually PLAYING Silver Surfer. Go figure. :cmad: Excuse me while I go and put on my gag. MMmmmfffftttt!!!
