Doug Jones finally verifies personally his involvement!

Their behaviour is puzzling and is starting to irk me. First with the set pics and now this.

Sorry, guys. Ask Fox. And that, I'm afraid, is all I'm allowed to say. I can't even confirm or deny that Doug is actually PLAYING Silver Surfer. Go figure. :cmad: Excuse me while I go and put on my gag. MMmmmfffftttt!!!

HM

*hands HM a bottle of good single malt*

Let's drown our sorrows and when the bottle is empty, we'll bludgen the Fox suits with it. Just as soon as we can feel our legs again.

Its good to finally get confirmation on Jones playing SS.

Yeah, its starting to pi$$ me off too. Maybe they realized that way too much of X3 was given away before the movie, so they want to limit the spoilers a lot for this movie.

^ I hope it's not spoiled like X3. If you're listening Fox don't freaking spoil this one and save the best scenes for the film...not the trailer this time around.

I blame the wonderful amount of speculation that, IMO, did do "some" damage to the first movie at the box office. AND some people talking before they've been given permission by Fox, you know the people paying for and paying out the $$$$?

On the other hand, I too am happy Doug is on board whether Fox wants to say for sure or not. I'm happy with the announcement-non announcement. lol, keep those non-announcements coming, they make for great discussion.

CGI?
Motion Capture?
Both?
Neither?

Man, I don't care, I'm just excited to see Fox wanting it to be a big surprise. Damn I love surprises.

This is past the point of being entertaining anymore. Seriously, why don't they want the world to know that Dougie is playing The Silver Surfer? God forbid he get any credit whatsoever for the part that he's out of the country doing for 3 months.

Don't worry, Chaz. Sooner or later it will all work itself out and then we'll get to see our favorite silver guy on the silver screen.

 Why wouldn't they give him credit, along with the paycheck?

Maybe they want to keep "all talk" of the SS off the internet until they "Fox" are ready.

Doug's little announcement said nothing that hadn't been already said before by Fox via their on-line stooges and by the Hollywood Reporter. All he wanted to do was say Hi to the fans and let them know that he would do his best for the character and the film. He even hyped Fox.

So, you tell me what they're playing at, because I sure as hell don't know.

The FF2 ball keeps rolling, and this movie looks to be a MAJOR improvement over the last one, which I really liked, btw. Glad to see the Doug Jones attachment confirmed, but my question is WHY are fanboys so psycho over the guy??? Am I missing something here....I really liked his character in Hellboy, but I had not really seen him b4 then. Anyway, I think FF2 is going to be the sleeper hit next year....lol.

Well, for one he's an extremely talented actor and for another he's one of the sweetest human beings on the face of the planet. HM, CHAZ and I have all met him and we'll all tell you the same thing, he's a real sweetie and extremely huggable. If you get a chance to meet him and talk to him, he won't get distracted, he'll stand there and talk to you, giving you all of his attention. Ok, I'll stop gushing now.

You wanna know what the big deal with Doug Jones is? He is the absolute nicest human being on the face of this planet. I mean, how many Hollywood actors who do big work with big companies and directors would fly out to Bowling Green, KY on their own dime, pay for their own rental car, sleep on the director's couch, and ride around town in the back of a dingy, dirty, slightly moldy 1985 van (normally changing his clothes in there in between shots) and not once complain? He loved every second of it. Nobody that has met Doug has said a negative thing about him. He puts off such positive energy. If you ever get the opportunity to meet him, you won't regret it.

Also, to show you how fun loving and carefree Doug is, here is a picture that was taken the day he left Bowling Green after the "Knock Knock" promo shoot.

Morgan Mead (the Director of "Knock Knock") at the top, Myself (Chaz and Assistant Director of "Knock Knock") on the left and Dougie himself (wearing one of our actor's band shirt) on the right. That's how Doug is.

Sounds like a real nice guy and that pic is funny btw.:D

I'm beginning to get multiple toothaches here.:cwink:

... and I'm going to give you a whole load more sugary cavities, dear heart. ;)

Doug Jones is one of the most decent, honest and nicest people you'd ever wish to meet. He works very hard, is incredibly fan-friendly, and as Chaz has already said, is very supportive of young indie film-makers, usually giving of his precious time to help out however he can. He will take time for anyone and everyone, and gives of himself without hesitation. He also has a very intelligent and sharp wit, a delightfully daft sense of humour and real sense of the ridiculous. If he has a fault it is that he does everything at a run, which makes it hard for this ol' biddy to keep up with what he's doing. Sigh. Poor me. But I wouldn't change a thing. No siree. :D

And, I tell ya, he's going to be frickin' brilliant as the Surfer. ;)

Well, like I said, he was my favorite character from Hellboy, so I was excited about him as the Surfer, do you'll think he's going to voice the character as well...perhaps with some computer-aiding?

I loved him as Abe as well. I went back and saw the film a second time because of Doug's performance as Abe. It just blew me away. And just for the record, I almost never see a movie more than once in the theater, I just wait for the DVD to come out. The only exceptions have been Batman (5 times) because my friend and I had a crush on Michael Keaton at the time, Aladan and that was only because I was having a really crappy day and I wanted something to cheer me up, Hellboy and V for Vendetta (Hugo Weaving could read the dictionary to me and I wouldn't care). If anyone ever gets a chance to watch the cast commentary on Hellboy, do it, Ron says some incredibly great things about Doug.

As for the voice of SS, I certainly hope they let Doug do the voice maybe with a touch of computer aiding to make it sound other worldly.

Ok, I'll stop gushing again.

Who the HELL is "Doug Jones"????!?!!?!!????

http://www.thedougjonesexperience.com/

He was Abe (body, not voice and let's not get into that again) in Hellboy, Billy Butcherson (the zombie) in Hocus Pocus, The Lead Gentleman in the episode 'Hush' from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Pan and the Pale Man in the upcoming Pan's Labyrinth and I could go on for days. Check out the link, it'll give you a better idea what a great choice Tim Story made.

Precisely, and I am one that can appreciate being a fan. I truly can, being a fan of Jessica's along with Chiklis (my favorite TV person today) is what brought me to this movie back in 2005, and turned me on to the Fantastic Four comics. So I do appreciate that. But, really, really, really I get your point about Doug, and I'm sure most around here do as well. I'm glad to have him on board, I think he will do a great job, as all the actors did in the first movie. Its now up to us to wait, enjoy the ride, and see what happens with the sequel. I think Doug will speak for himself on the big screen, without all the build up. I have no doubt in that whatsoever.

Doug Jones or his publicist recently added this pic to his site. I've never seen it before but I'm sure it's from somewhere one of you have seen. Still it's cool.
