No Way Home "Down Came The Goblin, and Took The Spider Out" - Willem Dafoe Needs His Thread Too

Yeah, yeah, you're very clever. When people discuss stuff idgaf about, I usually just move onto something that does interest me. You might try it sometime.

Anyways, back at the fanboys fanboying thread...

@CadeSkywalker28 why did you delete that cool pic you posted?

I think the poster eliminates much of the colouring that's actually there. We've seen from the trailer trailer and the leaked photos there is more green and purple in the finished suit. You've also got to keep in mind how contextual the suit is to the story. This isn't a new suit designed from the ground up.

Overall I like the the design here. I would have liked a Goblin mask like that from the comics or gauntlet blades like Harry has in Spider-man 3 so the suit would resemble more the concept art for the first Raimi movie, but other than that I'm fine with it.

Ever considered it might be a homage to Hobgoblin? Don’t need to introduce him as a separate villain when you can pull off his look and keep it to one Goblin.

Plus it can put all those Ned theories to bed.
He looks nothing like hobgoblin either

I find it kinda amusing tbh. But then i was never someone who had huge issues about changes from the comics.

Maybe it was Marvel? *gasp*

Its a very modern green goblin design really. The Power Ranger suit is abit outdated really.

Happy Thanksgiving Goblin fans!

I would love another one-on-one battle between Tobey's Spider-Man and Green Goblin, even if it's just a brief skirmish

Better than that. Also Sony is king of making awful decisions so I’d put it on them lol

I feel thats always been the issue. Too much of a soft spot to accept Marvel won't always give you want you want to see. So its gotta be Sony.

Even though if we don't turn a blind eye to marvels success.... Yeah you probably could see the lost potential.

Oi… that suit is pretty bad. I didn’t care for the Spider-Man 1 suit all that much myself, but at least there was the thematics there. This feels like the blandness of the New Goblin of Spider-Man 3 (where I don’t recall that name in the movie at all) Perhaps he’ll just be called Norman Osborn here… as he definitely isn’t doing a “goblin” and I’m unsure if he’s even green anymore. They couldn’t opt for green face paint? They could have done the Alex Ross look facially and called it a day (the goggles are clear enough to see the eyes in the Alex Ross artworks)

Yea again I don’t get why goblin never has a suit that’s well… a goblin. I don’t know wtf they were going for with that Harry goblin in asm2

Its like they're afraid to embrace the Goblin look of the character. The very thing that makes him the Green GOBLIN. Not just a dude in green clothing.

And we are talking about the character who is insane and like the theatrics, so green makeup, green goblin mask is something that he would totally do to show his "true self".

The more I think about it, the more dissapointed I am... Seriously, if I could work on design for Green Goblin I would never though "goggles... Nailed it".

I would have take any crazy idea over "goggles".

Its funny how little they have shown of the goblin. Its almost like they are aware of what the pre-judged reaction will be if we got a full shot.

I don't see Hobgonlin either.

They're already stretch suspension of disbelief with so many things, so they could give DeFoe thin green mask that hold to his face so tightly that the features and expression of DeFoe would be visible and in reality, it wouldn't be mask but simple CGI that add rubber texture on Defoe's face similar to Black Widow mask in Winder Soldier...

Why they didn't think about that?

I've always thought the holo-mask programed to look like a goblin face would be the best way to pull of the Green Goblin's mask in the context of the MCU too. You'd get the best of both worlds with the character still be able to emote while getting something more comic accurate.

But I'm disappointed that they're dropping the mask. The '02 mask I think could still work with some updating.

I'm trying to have a little more faith in Sony these days. It's not easy, but I'm hopeful that the studio has finally learned from their mistakes. We're getting two, possibly all 3, of Spidey's biggest villains in a single movie. Even if they're letting MS take the lead, at least they're not being greedy....for now.

I don't know, trying to use too many villains too fast has also been a consistent Sony mistake. . . *ahem*
