No Way Home "Down Came The Goblin, and Took The Spider Out" - Willem Dafoe Needs His Thread Too

Always dreamed about a scenario where Dafoe's Green Goblin would return from the dead and fight Tobey's Spidey again back in the day, so stoked (and still in disbelief) we're gonna get that meeting again here. So many juicy moments they need to take advantage of.

I'm kinda wondering about the pseudo mentor thing Gobbie was on in the first Raimi film given those lines in the trailer.

Will Tom's Peter be meeting Norman sans understanding who he is? Is the quote a moment when Norman is trying to influence MCU Spidey the way he was trying to get Raimi Spidey on his side at first?

I just thought of this...

What if that is what happens... And like Tobey, Tom replies with "I already have a father Mister Osborn... (MCU Spidey is always respectful. LOL) His name was BEN PARKER."

Crowd goes wild in a nostalgia orgasm and Feige finally destroys the "Where is Ben in all this?" grumblings from the fans.

Tbh, this would have been perfect for New Goblin in Spider-Man 3. Harry’s wearing his father’s battle-worn costume with additional tools, etc. strapped across his arms and chest to compensate for a lack of Goblin formula (that always felt shoehorned into the movie).

Call me crazy, but this look still plays

The costume looked good on s

I think Wolverine might get some version of it in the MCU. It should be based on the yellow/brown suit in my opinion. I don't think we see Green Goblin again for a while.

Yeah I think considering how much goblin we have gotten over all with spiderman 1,3, amazing spiderman 2 and this that it will be a long time for another green goblin. I just wish we could get those 2 suits. Maybe in spiderman 2 movie lol and maybe in the wolverine game.

I didn't even notice the hood before seeing this.

Same here. I always imagined it would be like in the Clone Saga.

Cheers, Kane, that really helps. You can see a lot more detail. I thought the glider looked significantly different too. I still think the Raimi glider is perfect, but this supposed to be a hodge bodge from what I can tell. The suit also seems to have additional details in comparison to the leaked pic of the stuntman.

What strikes me though is the lack of definition on the face makes me wonder if it's just Dafoe out of focus or if this is someone else who is a bit younger.

It could be just cgi version of his face.

Its a CGI shot. Chances are all of that shot is CGI.

There is only one problem... I really don't see "Green Goblin" here. I like the concept but...

Glad we both agree. I like it bits not the green goblin to me. I don’t know why goblin gets the shaft on designs . It’s like putting a black shirt and ski mask on venom and calling it a day

Ever considered it might be a homage to Hobgoblin? Don’t need to introduce him as a separate villain when you can pull off his look and keep it to one Goblin.

Plus it can put all those Ned theories to bed.

I don't see Hobgonlin either.

They're already stretch suspension of disbelief with so many things, so they could give DeFoe thin green mask that hold to his face so tightly that the features and expression of DeFoe would be visible and in reality, it wouldn't be mask but simple CGI that add rubber texture on Defoe's face similar to Black Widow mask in Winder Soldier...

Why they didn't think about that?

All the usual gnashing of teeth over things that are on ships that have sailed or the ultimate importance of which is minimal at best especially in the context of this particular movie.

Fanboys gonna Fanboy though I suppose.

Speaking of minimal contributions of no importance, here's a smug *****e to lord it over people simply discussing things they wanna discuss.

If the shoe fits... Lace it up and live in it.

Cuz... This response?

Yeah... Lived up to kinda EXACTLY what I was talking about with genre fans living up to the worst caricatures about us that the wider culture has in their minds.

Kudos.
