Dr Strange has writers

Just thinking, conjecturing, Chewy has posted some rumors/info that Marvel may well announce the Dr. Strange director at SDCC. When Del Toro resigned from The Hobbit last month he said he was hoping to announce his next film at SDCC. HMM...just a thought.

Can someone please press the fast forward button so we can get to SDCC already?

If Marvel was smart, Dr. Strange would be one of their rumored short films, and not a full length film. Except for the animated movie (which was very different from the comic book version), Dr. Strange has never been that appealing or interesting. And when you factor in the fact that the general movie going audience is going to see a Dr. Stange movie as being a ripoff of the SORCERER'S APPRENTICE, I think that making a full length movie just has "BOMB" written all over it.

Considering Conan isnt out to see, its hard to judge if these writers are good or not. Was kind of hoping for someone more established or at least someone we know more of their work.

The script review for Conan wasnt very promising.

I think a Dr. Strange film could have a lot of appeal, especially if they can get a talented actor in the lead role that basically just needs that one role to turn him into a star ala Robert Downey in Iron Man. There is a lot of potential in this character. I just don't really have faith that they can pull it off given that Marvel doesn't appear to be putting a lot of effort into it. Lazy films are almost always bad films.

What has shown that they're not putting effort in to it? All they've done is hired writers ffs. Not to mention it's Marvel Studios.

sheesh you people expect a full feature film to be done when they announce a flick

They really need someone like Depp to lead Dr Strange. There's no way they make a C-lister (Iron Man was a B-list) movie without someone famous and expect it to be a hit.

I love Dr Strange. Hope he gets a movie that he deserves.

Del Toro directing...Neil Gaiman writing...Johnny Depp starring...that movie would be awesome!

Unfortunately, this is Marvel we're talking about. They'd offer Depp 500 bucks and a variety case of Doritos for a 6 picture commitment.

What is everyones prediction about how this movie will turn out?

Hmm. The article says that Marvel is bringing in another writer to have a go at the script.

I read a while ago that Neil Gaiman would write Doctor Strange if Del Toro directed it.

hmm.

If del Toro is directing I truly hope it is Gaiman.

How about Dr. Strange as a supporting character in another Marvel movie to test the waters a bit? If Disney has anything to do with it I doubt they'll jump on another sorcerer movie after their failure this summer.

I think it would be cool to see Dr. Strange in Iron Man 3, as he would be the perfect antithesis to Tony Stark - kind of a man of science vs. man of faith type thing (for lost fans). I could see this working if they used the Mandarin as the villian and actually acknowledged the supernatural aspect of the character.

If Dr. Strange does get his own movie I would love to see it be made by del Toro, Cuaron, or Proyas with Clive Owen or Billy Crudup in the lead.

take this with a grain of salt for the moment

Brody being Strange would be okay with me. Although with Disney, I'd have expected Depp to be frontrunner. I don't think he'd be a terrible choice, either.

I think Depp is out of their price range, but who knows. I guess it all depends on who's bankrolling the film. I would imagine after Avengers that Marvel would want some smaller budget pictures
