Dracula Year Zero Rises at Universal

That's what he meant.

Eh, I'm not too sure about Worthingtoon. I liked him enough in Avatar but I don't know if he has the range to pull off Dracula. And Proyas needs to prove himself again.

I know that is what he meant. I just wanted to post it...because I dislike him (Costner) so much.

Absolutely. Imagine The Untouchables and JFK with Harrison Ford or Kurt Russell in those roles instead. Both would've been much better.

I haven't watched the Untouchables but I knew he was bad after viewing the admittedly s**tty WaterWorld. Sure the script and direction were s**t but Costner's zombie acting made an already bad movie worse.

Also Bale is a far more talented actor than Ford. I know alot of people will disagree with me but I never found Ford to be a hugely talented actor. He had a great screen presence and was a great action star but a great actor? I think not. Hell, I don't even think he was a good actor. He's by no means a bad actor but I'd wish he would retire now because now he isn't even trying.

Thats I SEE SPIDEY controversal opinion of the day.

Costner has had his moments, I thought he was good (not great) in Dances With Wolves. I liked him in the Untouchables and the Bodyguard. Could other actors have done better in the roles? Of course, but I don't think Costner embarassed himself in this roles. Alas, these roles are in the minority, and for the most part I don't care for his acting ability.

Agreed on Ford, never saw him in anything that made me say "My god, what a performance." He oozes charisma in the right roles, Han Solo and Indiana Jones being the obvious examples of this. However in regards to "serious" roles? He never impressed me.

I think Bale could do very well, I mean Gary Oldman well, in the role of Dracula. However, I think Bale will be reluctant to steer clear of any potential franchises after his TS disappointment. However, if Proyas's film is a one off, then Bale would be a fantastic choice.

I watched The Fugitive last night and in the opening I saw that Ford gave a great performance, trying to convince them he didn't kill his wife. He's not on the level of De Niro or Lewis, but he has charisma and likeability. I'm fine with that. He can bring these larger than life characters into something relatable and likeable.

He's also great in Witness which he was nominated for an Oscar. But I get it. He isn't an "My God, what a great performance!" actor, but there's enough presence for him to be well liked. He's in my top five favorite actor's anyway.

I'm not exactly Costner's biggest fan but even I can see that you dont deliver an 8 minute + monolgue like the one he delivered in JFK as good as he did without having a certain amount of talent.

Sure, Costner has always been lacking in charisma. But since when is charisma the same as talent?

That part was good, I'll give him that. But the film itself felt gimmicky.

He has likeability in Field of Dreams though, but that's it.

"What is this A GAME?

That line in The Untouchables makes me cringe.

I was going to defend Costner in Untouchables, which is a movie I really like, but the more I think about it, I think I enjoy that movie mostly because of Sean Connery.

That's exactly why. The Untouchables would have been perfect if Costner wasn't in it.

Sean Connery ****ing owned it.

Kevin Costner's all right. Waterworld is not THAT bad. It has some entertainment value. Only thing I can't understand is why did Costner got stuck making those f***ing golf movies? I get it, you like golf, but it's f***ing boring movie subject! WTF?! You hired SAM RAIMI to direct a GOLF movie??? You f***ing moron...

But he's still okay.

Films about Golf? Like films serious in tone? Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore have clearly shown what the only workable formula is for a Golf film! :cmad:

The thing I'll always find funny about the Untouchables is that Connery won an oscar for playing an Irishman with a Scottish accent.

:hehe:

Me neither. I don't think i'll ever buy him as Dracula. Sigh... what a waste of celluloid this movie is.

Yes they have. I like the idea of Proyas doing a Dracula film. But Worthington doesn't spark too much confidence from me.

It's funny if..after Avatar and Clash of the Titans, average movie goers still don't know who the heck Sam Worthington is. to me, he's competent, but he doesn't leave much of an impression.

hell, Shia LaBouf has left more of an impression on me when he starred in Transformers 1.

I don't want a "good" Dracula. Vampires are at their best when they are villains, and Dracula is the ultimate vampire which means he should be one of the all time ultimate villains. He's an evil SOB and he should be dead but the only reason he's not is because he sucks the life out of other people, amongst other atrocities. Why does everyone think it's so necessary to neuter him and turn him into a "house vampire?" (just typing that phase makes me throw up a little)

Well, nowadays vampires are being portrayed as teen heartthrobs (Twilight) or misunderstood do-gooders (True Blood). I guess the people behind Dracula wanted to continue this trend.
