Dracula Year Zero Rises at Universal

Eh, I think it's too early to tell. Depending on whether it actually delivers from an acting/story standpoint and if the action scenes are suitably entertaining, the popularity of the Dracula brand, I could see this maybe doing 200 mil WW. But from just the one trailer I can't really discern much.

It looks fun to me. I love vampire and Dracula so I'll see it. I'm also not opposed to a new take that doesn't trivialize or make a character smaller than life or a soap opera.

Does anyone think that Bram Stoker's story, as he wrote it, could be made as a short miniseries?

I mean, in the novel there are very few scenes where the count makes an appearance, and except for the beginning of the story - at his castle - Dracula has very, very little dialog.

Because the book is so well written I believe this could be done successfully. The presence of the monster (behind the scenes) could be something of extreme dread throughout the telling of the story, and I would like to see this happen!

So I guess it's still being called Dracula Year Zero in some countries?

New trailer.

Still looks fun to me

Just saw the trailer for this today, I like the look of it, love dark Dracula/vampire stories so this seems right up my alley.

I can't speak for the box office, but I think this will finish with 40-45% on RottenTomatoes.

I might see it at the theaters just depends on the mood I'm in that weekend and whether I feel like driving 30 minutes to the theater. It's not a movie that I'm dying to see.

I don't know. Depending on the final product and if it's marketed well enough, it could surprise.

I think Universal is leaving money on the table by not letting this be R-rated. But PG-13 = more $$$$.

That international trailer is quite badass, this could be a big surprise.

Compared to the vampire blockbusters there have been in the last 5 years or so this is only going to be an improvement.

It looks like whoever the cinematographer is he's either seen or played the most recent Castlevania game.

The cinematographer is the great John Schwartzman, he's done The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Green Hornet, The Amazing Spider-Man, Saving Mr Banks & Jurassic World.

The big plus: Dracula Untold is shot on film, yes yes yes !

Good to know it's well looking in the very least, not expecting a very good movie, but i'm hoping it can be as entertaining as Van Helsing, which was also a guilty pleasure of mine.

Probably because some people think the movie looks silly with the bat fist or that kind of thing, I think it's a really cool & fresh take on it, and it promises to be very entertaining, and we all know Evans is going to kill it.

New TV Spot and some pics.
