That is a very interesting question. Akira Toriyama would be the only guy that could answer that, all we can do is speculate.

“Dragon Ball Super” is a complete continuation of the Majin Buu story arc. It’s got a bit of post-battle aftermath, continues with the “Battle of Gods” arc where the God of Destruction Beerus appears and the “Revival of ‘F'” arc where Freeza comes back to life, and then, I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe. They’re fighting against their neighbors, Universe 6! They’ll yell at me if I give away too many spoilers, so I’ll keep the rest a secret, but they’re chasing after giant Super Dragon Balls; I think things will unfold in a bright and simple way, that will be really fun and exciting!
Since it’s another universe, loads of new characters will turn up. I’ll do my best to draw the tons of character designs necessary, so I’m looking forward to this too.
You know, it suddenly occurs to me that somewhere along the line the Dragon Ball anime has become quite a huge story. Since I’m the guy who drew the thing, it’s a bit weird for me to say this, but when I first started out I never dreamed it would have a universe as a setting (laughs). This is really cool. I like this idea, follows what they barely touched on in BoG and allows for more creativity with another universe that doesn't have a specific set of rules yet.

I feel like Dragonball is on its way in joining "Pokemon" as an animated series that will quickly grow stale and unoriginal after once having been a great anime show to watch.

Goten and Trunks are already stuck in the "Ash Ketchum" phase where they're not allowed to show any physical change in their appearances due to the amount of years that have passed by since Majin Boo's defeat. Even Goku showed some changes in his appearance as a kid.

Plus, Goku and Vegeta are already super power as it is. I mean I thought the whole God of Destruction was kind of dumb in concept before you really nerf on how powerful someone like Buu was, who was already god like.

I mean just how many different forms of Super Saiyan are they going to introduce, especially ones that don't look like the same thing as the previous incarnations but with different hair color? At least Super Saiyan 4 looked somewhat original compared to the Super Saiyan God forms that we've gotten.

Plus is the running gag going to be on how Goku and Vegeta will miracuously discover a high level in super saiyans whenever a new and stronger foe emerges?

I believe the idea is that it will eventually catch up to Battle Of The Gods & Return Of F. Eventually get into the 12 universes idea
