Dragonball Script Thread (Contains Spoilers Duh)

About the grammar issue I brought up earlier, JP responded to my criticism of Ramsey’s writing appearing to be illiterate by using as an excuse the fact that the script is a first draft and so might have typos in it, but I just did a search through it and found that in every instance of Ramsey writing the possessive form of “it,” he writes “it’s” instead of the correct “its.” This guy is clearly an idiot both in how he writes and what he writes about. How did he get this job doing the screen treatment for Dragonball and then get so much money for it too? Marking graves with trading cards, fighting wolves for no reason, playing Dragonball videogames, saying “badass” and “hot” every two words, killing Oolong in an ancient Starbucks or something, talking in gibberish about the “balance of time”—where did all this nonsense come from?

I hope he just chucked the script right out of his office window and started anew. The Ramsey script is on par with something written by Ed Wood, maybe even worse.

Yeah the Goku on the horse thing was naff didnt like that.

On JPs site most people have given the script a 1, why are people hating on this film so much?

I hope he just chucked the script right out of his office window and started anew. The Ramsey script is on par with something written by Ed Wood, maybe even worse.

A reader on my site pointed out that it looks like a day after the writers strike Wong started re-writing the script as if he was really eager to change things.

Also, some good news from Variety which I hope is accurate.

"Final Destination" helmer James Wong will direct from a script he penned. Ben Ramsey wrote an earlier draft.

Looks like he started from a blank slate and just implemented some ideas from the draft. Or, at least, I hope.

This is probably the case.

When "Godzilla" came out in 1998, it gave story credits to Ted Elliot and Terry Russio (I may have gotten their names slightly wrong, so apologies) even though there was nothing in common with their original script except for the scene where the fishing trollies are pulled under the water. The writing pair even posted their original script online so people would know that they had nothing to do with the horrible mess that film was. (PS-the script was pretty awesome).

So James Wong probably noted down elements he liked, crossed out what he didn't and went to town making a new script, accepting input from Steven Chow.

Well The Kid is working on something having to do with this and he even wrote his own script. (It's not this) Also the only part I revised was that excerpt. They WON'T kill Teto off so for now I just kept it at Kal and Wulan. Maybe it's going to be Weaver and Teto!

Now 1/10 has gone an overtook 8/10. So it shows people are just hating on this movie for the sake of it.

As a draft, this script is amazing, expecially when keeping in mind the already obvious changes (Pilaf/Piccolo merge, Tournament, various characters removed, ect.)

Its easy to see Ben Ramsey is a huge fan of Dragonball, and made a very solid draft that Wong could work from. I would go to see this in theatre. I will deffinitly see Wongs revision.

Good to see the idea of Krillin was there, maybe he'll have a small cameo in the theatre.

I wonder what your opinion on this movie is going to be like? You might like it in the beginning and when it bombs you will start saying it sucked that is why it bombed.

I did read it very quickly, thinking it was okay (hence 7/10) but not great. After analyzing it fully, it's not as good as I originally thought (hence me changing my vote to 5/10).

You need to realize that a lot of people who visit dbthemovie or dragonballmovieblog are actually fans of the show.

They expect a dragonball movie to be absolutely amazing and mindblowing which I personally think is asking for too much since this is a Fox movie and a dragonball movie like the cartoon is hard to translate.

They will make this movie similar to all other martial arts and kung fu flicks out there by borrowing material from those films and mixing with some DB.

The weakest thing of this script is that it lacks action and whatever action it has doesn't sound big or epic. Secondly some of the dialogues are meet the spartans level and that is bad.

I am not going to say much about the script now.

There are a lot of people out there who love a movie but when it doesn't do well at boxoffice they start making excuses that the movie was mediocre etc. etc.

To be honest im surprised how faithful the script was, i really expected it to be modernised and just completely go astray.

And all that commotion over Goku going to school and it looks like its gonna be 1 or 2 scenes right at the start.

I can think of some pretty damn cool dune buggies.
