The rules:
This thread will be in use for 5 days. Days 1-3 are strictly setup time for owners to post their battles, plead their cases, tell us their team’s strategies, breakdown the match ups, and do whatever else they can/want to do to try and convince you that their team would pull out a victory inside of 2 posts. Please, let the owners do this on their own with no help. Debating cannot begin until both owners post battles.

On Day 4, I will post and tell everyone that debating may begin. Each owner has one post to rebut their opponent's match, and another to correct any issues of their opponent's rebuttle. One 2 rebuttle posts are allowed for each opponent.

On Day 5, I will post and tell everyone that voting can begin. Any votes cast before I open voting will not count. Look over the matchups and read the strategies, and take in to consideration how in-character each character is. Afterwards, use your best judgment to decide who you think has the best chance to win the match. (Note: The length of a writeup is at the discretion of the owner. Do not punish owners just for having a shorter writeup.)

To vote, rate each team's writeup and arguments between 1-10 (0 is reserved for non-writeups). The team you think will win should get the higher score (tie scores are not allowed). Remember to vote for all matches or your votes will not count! The teams with the highest point total at the end of the 7th day will get a W while the other will get an L. (Equal scores will result in a tie.)

The battleground for this week is: Tokyo (Final Crisis Aftermath) (basically the city after mass devastation and fires)

I’m just going to do this point-by-point, because obviously this game has fallen into a bit of a rut and I don’t see a need to elaborate. Hopefully my opponent can get something up as well, so we may finish the season in style. To you, Nightwing, I already say, good luck.

Okay, so let’s look at the teams:

Jailbait
Fernus the Burning (DU)
Mordru (DU)
Kang (MM)
Gentleman Ghost (DR)
White Wolf (MR)

Heroes of the New Age
Replicant
The Shade
Psylocke
Deadpool
Zauriel

I’ve got a bunch of villains on my team and despite the name, so to do the Heroes of the New Age. Psylocke and Zauriel are the exception. My team’s worked together before and are generally cold, calculating characters. The other team is mismatched, with at least one completely insane person (Deadpool). They’re chaotic and they have no leader. While Jailbait would not have one person giving out orders, they’d be able to agree on a strategy.

When it comes to smarts, Jailbait easily outclasses the Heroes. I’ve got two master tacticians (White Wolf and Kang), two nearly immortal entities with a wealth of experience (Mordru and the Gentleman Ghost) and one who pretty much becomes both those traits, namely Fernus the Burning. The only one who can match wits with this team is The Shade.

Similarly, when it comes to resources, Jailbait is superior. Kang has an incredible arsenal of future technology and the White Wolf has some of the best technology there is to find on Earth. They can create any number of devices and I have had them do so before. Once such device was a mutant power inhibitor, something that would take care of at least two members on the opposite team (Psylocke and Deadpool). This kind of knowledge is especially important when taking into account the fact that Jailbait has faced Psylocke and Zauriel before. While the Heroes of the New Age have fought Mordru and the Gentleman Ghost before, they’ve neither the smarts, skills nor resources to put any information to good use.

Then there’s raw power. Mordru is a supreme sorcerer, Fernus is a Martian with a variety of powers, key amongst them telepathy and enhanced strength and speed. They’re versatile and extremely powerful. Replicant is on the lower side of the uber powerscale. The Shade, again, is the only one that can match anyone on my team but even he’s overpowered by Mordru.

How does that translate on the lower levels? Kang will be prepared for anything Psylocke can throw his way. Gentleman Ghost and Zauriel are pretty well matched and I might even give the win to the angel because of his unique nature. That is, if the two were to meet. Having faced Zauriel before, the Ghost will focus on Deadpool, someone he can surely defeat. The villain is untouchable and even Deadpool’s healing factor has its limits. The White Wolf takes on Zauriel, but ends up unconscious. But then it’s Kang and the Gentleman Ghost versus Zauriel. The angel can’t win that.

Which leaves us to the conclusion that Jailbait wins.

Will try get something up tonight Harl...

My time's been eaten up this week GL. I'll likely not be able to get a write up by tomorrow, just fyi. Sorry guys, I'll make sure to find time for the playoff weeks.

The Ringers
Ion (DU)
Supergirl (DU)
Iron Man (MM)
Nightwing (DR)
Kitty Pryde (MR)

VS.

The Odd Alliance
Vulcan (MU)
Dr. Light (DM)
New Son (MM)
Deathstroke (DR)
Shadow Thief (DR)

Prep Time:
Nightwing would know Deathstroke and Dr. Light better than almost anyone. He would also know of Shadow Thief. Kitty should know Vulcan, but New Son would be an enigma to the team. Nightwing would be able to plan fairly well against the ones he knows and set up a strategy for the team.

On the other side, Deathstroke would know Nightwing intimately, would know Kyle and Kara fairly well, though maybe not the extent of Kyle's powers at the time. Iron Man and Kitty are probably both at least familiar to Vulcan.

Battle Time:

Supergirl v. Vulcan:

With Deathstroke's leadership they'd send Vulcan to take on the Kryptonian, as they'd want to keep her away from Dr. Light. The fight would be explosive, to say the least with both of them just laying into each other. I see it ending quite like Superman and Doomsday's first bout with both combatants fallen.

Shadow Thief v Kitty

The two have a similar power set, but Shadow Thief is a bit harder to get to. I see him pulling the win out in this one.

Dr. Light and New Sun v. Ion

Deathstroke would send these two after Ion, knowing that a Green Lantern is not easy to beat. Even so, Kyle's beaten Light handily in the past and would deal with him quickly, leaving himself to square off against New Sun one on one. This would be tougher, but I feel that utilizing the Ion power and his own will power Kyle would come out on top, but just barely.

Deathstroke and Shadow Thief v. Nightwing and Iron Man

Much like Kyle has taken down Light handily, so has Deathstroke with Dick. Dick's gotten better, but he's still not on Slade's level, so quickly it'd be Tony versus both of them. Tony would take out Shadow Thief utilizing his tech, but I see Slade finding the kink in his armor and being left as the only standing member of his team.

Deathstroke v. Ion

Slade would taunt Kyle, about how he's the lesser of the Earth GL's and how easy it was to dominate his will the last time they faced. Kyle would learn from his mistakes and rather than try to punch Slade, he would hit him with a construct of K-Rod who would beat him like he was his girlfriend's father.

Winners - The Ringers

Prep-Time

With the exception of Proctor, probably every character on both teams is going to be horrified by the battleground. Tokyo is empty and in flames after the events of Final Crisis. And the destruction will be very disturbing to the fighters.

But, with the people gone, and city already in ruins, they'll also realize they won't need to hold back. Except, that the ubers still will.

Talk about even matchups. Kyle vs Guy and Barry vs Wally? How much closer can two matches be? Kyle has the imagination and finesse. Guy has the sheer determination and outright stubbornness. And with all his years as owner of the Flash mantel, I'm not sure if there's really a difference between Wally and Barry anymore.

With such evenly matched ubers, this fight is going to come down to lower ranks...

Battle-Time

The uber fight starts off just as predicted. Bright flashes of emerald light in the sky, and nearly invisible streaks red covering the ground. But both sides of these fights can't help but pull their punches. So neither of these fights is going to be finishing quickly.

And while the ubers fight, all the other team members meet up in the city. Before Colossus can even react to coming upon their opponents, Proctor has teleported in front of him. There's no chance he can avoid the upcoming attack. Bucky, to his credit, is quick enough to try and intervene, but Spidey, who's even quicker, swings in. He smashes into Bucky, and the pair goes flying.

Luke also tries to help, but the Silver Sorceress, from a safe distance, uses hex bolts like that of her Marvel counterpart to slow Luke down. This give Proctor the time he needs to get past Piotr's scrambling defense and slice cleanly through Colossus' arm as he tries to defend himself, lopping it right off as if his armor wasn't even there. But this gives Luke time to put his fist into Proctor's face, sending him flying to the ground. Luke goes to press the advantage, but a quick throw by Proctor embeds the Ebony Blade in Luke's chest. Look has just enough time to look down at the hilt of the Blade in shock and awe before collapsing.

In a roar of rage, Colossus is on Proctor, beating the holy hell out of him, shrugging off Proctor energy attacks as he pound his face into the ground. But this distracts him from the Sorceress who, with a spell, causes Piotr's armor to fall from his head. Now facing a temporarily vulnerable opponent, Proctor blasts Piotr in the face, sending him flying off into unconsciousness.

Out of the way of this fight, Bucky puts up a surprisingly good fight against Spidey. In fact, if it wasn't for the bulletproof nature of his armor, Spidey would be trying to fight with a couple of bullet wounds. Bucky is able to block Pete's physical attacks, but the webbing is another matter. Once Pete attaches Bucky's shield to ground, the fight starts going south for the soldier. Add in Pete's friends, and he's going to have a tough time staying conscious.

With only the ubers remaining, the rest of Chaos & Order know there's not much they can do to help in the Flash fight. It's just too damn fast to keep up with. Even the Sorceresses hex spells would be too risky to use, if she even knew where to use them

However, there is something they can do in regards to the Lantern fight. Although the effects might be limited by range, Proctor can tamper with Gardner's mind. And he wouldn't necessarily need to do much. Just provide enough of a distraction for Kyle to get the upper hand. Because, once you start screwing with a Green Lantern's mind, you almost always leave a moment of opportunity that can be exploited. And since this is all part of the plan, and something Kyle can take advantage of, a moment is all he needs.

And now, it's essentially the entire team against Barry Allen. It's possible that it won't be the entire team. If anything, Colossus might have put Proctor down while beating him into submission. But that still leaves the Sorceress the opportunity to knock him out. Or at the very least, keep him busy until Pete arrives to help.

Either way, what's going to turn the tide of this fight is Kyle being free to intervene. With a quick signal to his friend, Kyle let's Wally know that it's finally time. And Wally, taking his cue, stops fighting Barry. Instead, his only goal becomes to hold his mentor down, grappling with him until they come out of superspeed. Once slowed down enough, Kyle can trap both in a bubble, and fry them with energy until they both collapse. It hurts like hell, but Wally gladly goes along with it if it keeps something worse from happening to Barry.

Finally, and in relatively short order, Chaos & Order moves on victorious.
