Duncan Jones' Warcraft

Top notch for sure. I can't wait for the trailer to come out!

I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic, but everything about this movie is pointing towards it being potentially the first video game movie "done right" and just a great movie on its own merits.

Edge of Tomorrow got there first, even though it was based on a manga.

Edge of Tomorrow is not a video game movie.

Yes I know the whole respawn thing, but it's not a VGM. ANd we really shouldn't count it as one.

The same team from ILM that worked on the Hulk for the Avenger films is working on all the Orcs on this movie.

Warcraft too, is killing two birds with one stone:

If it's good, then not only do have a quality franchise coming from a video game, we also have another 'high fantasy' series to get into. We have Game of Thrones, but that's the only daring franchise we have until it ends.

High Fantasy has been stuck with Tolken for the past two decades, and now we're getting more Potter (spin-off but still). Anything else sucked.

I hope that this film is successful, because if it is, it could give Hollywood the confidence to make high-quality films based on video games, like the early X-Men and Spider-Man films did for comic-book films.

There's also Bad Robot's partnership with Valve, wanting to make adaptations of Half-Life and Portal. Both are hard to do, especially for a puzzle game like Portal.

Half-Life is easier but I think the world building really became huge after the second game. Not to discredit the first game, which has a great plot. I can picture the first movie being akin to The Thing or Alien.

Nice to see this thread bumped. Orgrim looks amazing. Still have high hopes for this one.

How would a Diablo movie play out? The plot seems so convoluted. There's so much backstory to cover.

Starcraft would be interesting though the main character seems like a reject character from a comic book series the early 90's.

Fantastic that they stayed so close to the designs from the WoW cinematics.

Warcraft Orcs hands are bigger than their own heads. He would probably eat Bolg and Azog. :funny:

He looks really good in the picture, but I feel I need to see him in motion to fully appreciate this CGI. :)

I know next to nothing about Warcraft, though my girlfriend is a huge fan. The CG looks so spectacular and I dug Duncan Jones Moon so much that I'll be there opening day for sure.

Half-Life is unfilmable and so is Portal for that matter.

With Portal I just don't see the point. It's a puzzle game. That's why it was such a perfect medium for a concept like that.

I think Half-Life is possible though.

Movies were made out of board games ( Cluedo, Battleship ), why not a puzzle game.
Zog Zog.
