Duncan Jones' Warcraft

I am tired of the troupe of blindly jumping over a cliff (in this case a balcony) only to be be caught by your flying beast of burden. Who started that? It couldn't be Avatar.

It's been being done since in least Back to the Future II

whats up with those f.. eagles. always there to save you :)

I miss natural colors in movies. Don't tell me teal and orange palette in every 2nd movie is an artistic intent.

i trust him with acting and overall directing.

the look of the movie is like other big budget movies. it looks nothing like a DJ movie IMO

I like the look. It's very fitting for the property.

What does a Duncan Jones movie look like? What a ridiculous claim, Source Code looked nothing like Moon. He just has more to play with here, very few directors have an actual recognizable visual style to be honest, aside from the greats such as Spielberg, Scorsese, Coen brothers, PT Anderson, Tarantino, Cameron, etc, etc.

Jones has got two films to his name so far.

I'd love to hear what his ''look'' is from that vast body of work!

I have to admit that the trailer (though the quality isn't 1080) looks better on a monitor than on a phone!

I did not like those 15 seconds myself... But we'll see what happens when the full teaser's here.

I'm impressed by how Warcrafty it feels. The look feels very appropriate to me. At least they didn't go for the tired 'gritty and realisms' approach.

I for one am disappointed. This feels nothing like a Duncan Jones film to me because I didn't see any shots of multiple Sam Rockwells or Jake Gyllenhaal disarming a bomb on a train!

Because the over glossy orange-and-teal CG look is super fresh... :o

I hate the design of the "orc" in the poster. So much. That doesn't even look like anything resembling an orc, it just looks like a man with a fake huge tooth sticking out. I would've expected the people making a big-budget movie to at least make the orcs look more like non-human (talking) monsters, and less like human actor stand-ins. WTF were they thinking?

This is an orc, not that sorry excuse for one in the movie poster:

So here's a question for those of us that have played (at least) some of the games (and if this has already been asked earlier in the thread - sincere apologies for asking again): Are there any of the little quirks/nods/easter eggs from the game(s) that you'd like to see in this movie?

For example.... sheep that randomly explode :oldrazz: (as if some almighty hand from the sky poked it one too many times) or any of the unique (or maybe not so unique :oldrazz:) lines or quotes that some of the units say?

Or would you prefer there to not be any nods/easter eggs along those lines?

Assuming the movie is an adaptation of the WarCraft RTS games (and not the WoW MMORPG games), it'd be neat if some of the unit lines were in the movie, like "zug zug" or "for the king!" or "we're under attack!" :p

But if there's one thing I'd really like to see, or more accurately hear, is WarCraft II's awesome musical soundtrack! Hearing those tunes played by a symphony orchestra would be amazing! This is the music from the game, should bring back memories for anyone who played it:

there is something oldschool about Moon and Source Code.

this looks like a modern digital marvel movie combined with Hobbit 3(what was Jackson thinking). it doesnt even look like a modern Snyder movie . if you would like to use colors just copy Snyder.
it feels like the CGI company directed the acton scenes because they are so effects heavy and Jones just spend time with actors. more and more we are hearing that very few directors know how to direct action in those big budget movies.

i dont have a problem with CGI buildings. but why are the soldiers with helmet on and the wizard cgi?

-who is responsible for the DOF? it makes the frame look like a minutature.
-look at the lighting. 3 different light sources. bright sunny day on the building in the background. studio spherical lights above actors and one big soft spotlight on the two soldiers in the front. its a mess

Yeesh, that's some bad compositing. The depth is also all sorts of ****ed up. I didn't notice how bad that looked when I watched it on my phone.

I'm afraid this will just be one of those films that has really good cgi and some really awful cgi. Especially since Jones isn't used to directing large blockbusters that use this much cgi.

Which studio did the vfx for this film?

Yea, I was thinking about exactly the same thing. The movie NEEDS to have the original WarCraft music from the games. And I mean from WOW too, imagine Stormwind with WOW music! :hmr: :ilv:

The Main Title! I want to hear this!

Stormwind music:

Westfall music:

I want to hear those in the film so badly. :csad: :woot:

It is a made up thing to say that every film looks gritty and realistic. It's just a flat out made up complaint.

I'm not going to judge 15 seconds of footage one way or the other.
