Duncan Jones Will Follow Moon With Mute

Is this the second in his "trilogy" of films within the same universe? Only curious because Duncan said that Rockwell would be cameoing as his character from Moon, seeing as the films are set within the same generation/world as eachother.

Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to this.

I'll be there first day. Loved the hell out of Moon and this sounds great. Love that concept art.

Heh, Berlin. Must have been inspired by his dad. :p

The story sounds pretty good I guess, too bad the link to the concept art doesn't work AND that I haven't seen Moon yet. It will probably make it's way to DVD in 2010 over here... :(

Sounds cool. Moon is one of my favorite films of this year.

Wow, this sounds fantastic. I'm still hitting myself that I haven't seen Moon yet.

A mute main character in a sci fi setting? Sounds awesome. And I love what they'll be exploring in terms of humanity in a sci fi world. That is the most interesting. That and it seeming like the look of Blade Runner.

Sounds very interesting and intriguing. I also like the fact Jones seems quite old school, in the sense that he has a preference like Chris Nolan to use practical effects (i.e. models), rather than being heavily reliant on CGI.

After watching and loving Moon, I will definately be going to see this!

I dunno if that really is the case or that we can already form that opinion. The reason why he went old skool in Moon was pure economical. To create all those things in CG would've just taken too much money. And moon cost like 5 million.
Who knows what he would've done if he really had a moderate budget ( say 30 -40 million) to create moon.

A bit similar to what Aronofsky did with The Fountain, Jones will be releasing Mute as a graphic novel first.

Not MUTE, no. Although, I can sort of tell you that I’ve been talking to my producer today and we have decided that we’re going to release MUTE as a graphic novel. Because we’ve had so many problems trying to get this film made, you know? The people who are involved with financing films have just been…shy…shy of making the script. So what we decided to do is we’re going to make a graphic novel of it, prove it…prove it to an audience that this works and maybe in the future get the chance to come back and make it.

Have you decided what publisher is going to be behind that yet?

No, that’s one of the things we’re working on right now. But we have definitely made that decision…that we’re going to do that.

Mute
Filmmaker Duncan Jones is currently tackling the lengthy post-production required for the upcoming "Warcraft" film adaptation, but he's already considering what to do next. The option he favours now? Returning to his dream project "Mute".
Set in a futuristic Berlin, the story follows a silent bartender is looking for his abducted girlfriend. Jones tweeted earlier this week: "Thinking about what film I want to try and do after Warcraft. May give Mute one more push before I put it on the 'Don Quixote' shelf." [Source: Twitter]

That concept art.

I need this movie to happen.

Hopefully WoW is successful enough for someone to give him the money to make Mute.

I read an early draft from 09.

The character seems to be written for Hardy. It would fit him like a glove.

Duncan Jones Fighting On To Make "Mute"

By Garth Franklin Sunday September 27th 2015 01:04PM
Every filmmaker has at least one passion project they always keep coming back to and, if lucky, get a chance to make.
For "Moon" and "Source Code" director Duncan Jones, that's "Mute" - a story set in a future Berlin where a mute bartender goes in search of his abducted girlfriend.
Jones has had numerous problems getting the film made, mostly to do with financing and reticent investors. In a tweet over the weekend, the filmmaker indicated that some progress may have been made - though it depends on scheduling now.

With Jones' "Warcraft" film adaptation well into post and a many months off, there was hope "Mute" could be at least shot in the interim. Will this still happen? It's wait and see for now

I vaguely recall hearing a bit about Mute back in '09-'11. Moon is a personal favourite so hopefully Warcraft is successful enough that he gets the clout to make Mute.

It's such a pity that there'll be a 5 year gap in DJ films (Source Code 2011 -> Warcraft 2016).

Paul Rudd, Alexander Skarsgard to Star in Duncan Jones’ Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Mute’

Set in Berlin 40 years from now, “Mute” follows Leo Beiler (Skarsgard), a mute bartender who has one reason and one reason only for living here — and she’s disappeared. But when Leo’s search takes him deeper into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd) seem to be the only recurring clue, and Leo can’t tell if they can help, or who he should fear most.

“Mute” is based on a script by Jones and Mike Johnson that was recently rewritten by Damon Peoples. The film will be produced by Stuart Fenegan under the Liberty Films banner he shares with Jones.

Duncan has also Tweeted out:
Sam R is involved too... ;) and of course, wouldn't be right if Clint wasn't doing the score for MUTE!

YES!!!!!!

Cannot believe I've been waiting 6 years for this film.

Holy smokes! Duncan is finally getting this movie made.
