Dust mites

this is why people should wash their pillows every week. high and low temperatures kill dust mites. and water usally is able to wash all their matter away.

You think you have it bad... I have an allergy to the things. I have little pimple looking rashes covering my arms and my upper back from them.

yeah, the mite's waste and bodies can double the weight of a matress over a matter of about 8 years. :csad:

are you sure you just aren't a late bloomer? :o

Yes I'm sure. I've been like this for years and the doctor told me to go for an allergy test and it's the dust mites.

I've had the same mattress for nearly 20 years...Some of my pillows are probably 15 years old.

My mattress and pillows weigh a ton now.

They're totally FULL of dust mite and dust mite waste!...YAAAAAAAAY!... :D

*COUGH*

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!.. :D

I'm dead serious BTW. I'll be getting a new mattress soon, finally.

Ok, last night I was in my bedroom looking thru my DVD collection, which I keep in black mahogany storage units. I was sitting there looking straight in front of me at one of the unit's drawers, and I thought I saw one of the little white specks of dust on it move. So I stared really close at it, and there it was moving. It was like a little tiny insect.

Then I noticed that several of the little white specks of dust were moving. I looked up on the Net to see what they might be. They're bloody dust mites!!! I never ever noticed them before. They're only visible against dark surfaces.

So, I did a little research on them, and every home has them. Even the cleanest of homes. But the most disturbing thing I found out was that every bed mattress has an average of 2-5 million dust mites in it. They're in your pillows, too. In fact, if you have a pillow that flops when you hold it in the middle, it's because it's being weighed down by dust mite fecal waste :shock

Check out these videos about them: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=eqsdA56zCVQ

Anyone with asthma will get irritated by their presence. But most people are not affected by their presence.
It's just disgusting to think these little creepy crawlies are all over the house crapping everywhere. I'm going to be dusting every inch of my bedroom more frequently from now on!!!
I can't sleep the same way again. Thanks Jokey! :cmad:

Christ almighty! Why didn't I leave the thread! WHY?!?!?!?!:csad::cmad::waa:

hmm i wonder if thats what i have.. but mine tend to cover only where my clothes do on my legs and arms...

And I had a hard time going back to bed when I found a beetle snuggled beneath the covers one time. NOW you're telling me that I have crap crawling everywhere??

I'm gonna move to, oh I don't know, the moon. Or Mars.

...I've been having weird, random rashes in the exact same areas.

I may have found an explanation.

But it's only if you sleep without a shirt. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

I got alot of scars from dust mite bites. I'm embarrassed to take off my shirt in public. Which sucks cuz i work out. Anyone know how to get rid of pimple/bite mark scars?

btw, I've been spraying my bed and pillows with Lysol like every week. So far I haven't gotten any new bites. Also, it helps to wash the sheets every now and then.
