who else has noticed that the sequel rumors are as dead as ever? i wish someone just got cast already! no wonder there are 600 million joker threads. however something tells me the fact that nothing is happening now means it's the quiet before the storm.

the way things are going i would expect that after casting happens, the film will probably start shooting about novemeber/december time and then we will all have slightly more to talk about. then i would imagine the first pictures of dent/joker ect will be released/leaked about this time next year, maybe even longer.

oh well, i'm not a big supes fan but maybe that will keep me happy for a couple of days lol.

Should be some news at comic-con. Until then...how bout that weather eh?

I wouldn't expect anything major to happen until The Prestige is released in late October. It sucks that it's such a long ways away.

We might hear something at Comic-con, but it wont be anything big. Maybe an official title, or a tentative release date. I really just want something, anything!!

actually i was just thinking over my original post and i've decided i don't even want to know what the joker looks like until i watch the film. would ruin the grand entrance for me. it's going to be pretty hard to avoid a pic of it though, even if i wasn't going to post on here it would be somewhere else on the net.

I'm almost positive they'll show him, at least in some capacity. He's gonna be a huge part of selling this film (although hopefully not as much as Batman himself).

Besides, if it turns out bad (i pray we dont get antoher fake, prosthetic smile) I'd like to know beforehand, so I can prepare myself for it. And if it turns out good, I want to know so I dont spend 2 years worrying it might turn out bad.

yeah, I know it's Nolan and i shouldn't worry since Begins was great, but dont forget that he didn't want Scarecrow to have a mask.

it has been said that the joker's role in BB2 will be "smaller" and more "mysterious" than it was in the original Batman. now that doesn't mean it'll be cameo-like. but i really hope they don't show too many of his scenes in the trailers and previews. maybe just a few dark shots of him and some dialogue, and ending the trailers with his laughter.

i really want to be surprised and enjoy his performance as much as possible when it's released.

as for a prosthetic smile...i'd rather that than to just have a guy try to smile as much as possible. in the comics, that's no normal smile that the joker's got going. the smile needs to be enhanced somehow.

I have decided that i am staying away from spoilers once this things gets going. I could'nt stay away when BB was coming out.

I think that the first we get will be a teaser site with a title. That would be sometime around September.

-Casting of the Joker around New Year's.
-Casting of Dent before Groundhog's day
-Our first look at the teaser poster by this time next year.

That's what we really have to wait for....it's going to be long, but atleast this time, we can watch BATMAN BEGINS while we wait.

I think we'll see the first teaser trailer July 2007. Remember, the first teaser trailer of "Batman Begins" was released July 2004.

Everyone wants to see a picture of the Joker, everyone's curious but yet when they actually do I can almost guaran-damn-tee its going to be one huge ***** fest. Just like the Superman costume. It's not going to be pretty.

Come on. The Superman costume isn't bad, I haven't seen Superman Returns yet b/c it opens September 1st here in Italy but from what I've seen, the costume looks very good.

If it's Bettany, everyone'll love it!

I just feel that it is the calm before the storm. The Spidey teaser that was connected to Superman has everyone in a uproar. I can't wait to see the teaser for the next Batman film. Everyone should just lay low and before you know the boards will definitely be rocking...haha.

I really hope you are wrong :( I dont think I could hold on that long.

Heres another, Crispin Glover will NOT be the Joker.
Thank goodness.

i hear lots of names branded about being linked with the joker and the only one that really pisses me off is crispin glover.

also i'm pretty sure we will know all of the cast by the end of the year. i'd be shocked if it takes longer than that. if the film is coming out summer 2008 they are gonna need about 15 months to film it and about 2/3 months of getting it ready to go to theaters.

If things start happening that late, I doubt BB2 would meet the June release date.

oh i'm certain they will show him. he's basically the main selling point for this movie (maybe even above batman). i just wanna try and avoid seeing him before i watch the film.

having said that i doubt i'd be able to help myself from watching a promo trailer.

Not really. Dent and the Joker are not going to have THAT many scenes. Meaning, they can be cast, relativley late. Bale, Oldman, Caine, and Holmes (if she's in it) can all start filming around the New Year, with the Joker/Dent starting their scenes about a month or so later. However, the Joker would have to be cast before Dent to prepare prostetics, facial scans, and make marketing campagne photos etc. But I really think buzz for the film's casting will kick into hight right before Thanksgiving, with casting of major characters like:
Roman Sionis
Oswald Cobblepot
Jerimiah Arkham
Salvator Maroni
Harvey Dent
and
The Joker

all rounding out by the end of January.

Filming for BATMAN BEGINS really didn't make its date to start in February. It didn't start until March/April. This film, I think Bale will be doing greenscreen work early, and then scenes with Fox, and Alfred, before they start to bring the major players in. They will probably then shoot some action pieces (1 or 2) that will be in the teaser, along with the character scenes they shot to begin with. The teaser will probably be released about 15 months from now, next August/September.

Do they ever continue casting once a movie's started filming? I've never heard of it, at least.

I think Harvey Dent has to be cast fairly early because I expect him to have as many if not more scenes than Jim Gordan and will probably share most of his scenes with him. The Joker could probably be held off till the very end but I don't know why they would.
