Eckhart Eyeing Green Lantern?

For me he's got 3 strikes against him:

1. He's blond
2. He's too old
3. He already played Two-Face

WB can easily get someone else who is better
He's about the same age as Hugh Jackman, which I guess means we'll have to ship Jackman off to an old folks home soon and replace him with some random 20-year old:whatever:. I guess they'll have to get rid of Bale for the next Batman as well, since he'll be at least 38 by the time the next Batman film is released:whatever:.

Agreed.:cwink:

Not saying I think he should play Hal but "he's blonde" is a pretty weak reason for him not to get the role. Hairdye.

Not to mention Bale doesn't have black hair like Bruce Wayne.

I could definitely see Eckhart with the classic cleft in the chin playing Hal Jordan no problem. I would ask him to dye the hair brown though for the movie. I'm a little technical like that. But hey as long as he stays within the DC borders, I say sure; bend the rules and let's give him some time to be a superhero.

You earned it after Two-Face. Plus, if you dye the hair you can show some distinction between the two characters. You see how I look out for you Aaron??

Whatever is right. Besides 40 is the new 20 anyway.

I would like Common to play Green Lantern.

I wouldn't.

And I'm not even commenting on whether or not GL should be Jordan or Stewart, I'm just really getting sick of every rapper on Earth being handed movie roles without displaying any real ability, when there are thousands of very talented actors out there who will no one will ever hear of because Hollywood is too busy giving ever rapper, pop star and former reality show winner a movie role.

Common was okay in Smokin' Aces but anybody could have played that role. He definitely was the least interesting of the main characters.

Common did a good job with a small role.....I hate the fact that real working actors get dismissed because rappers and their ilk want to get into movies...there are exceptions to the rule though....

Common would be a good John Stewart. He handled pretty well his small role on ''Wanted'' too.

as much as I like Common, his roles in 'wanted' and 'smoking aces' were so small, that I can't tell if he's legit or not. Even in Amercian Gangster, he had less than 5 lines.

Common is an incredible talent...as an emcee.

He can't act, though. At least not yet.

as small as his roles were, you can feel that "presence". its unmistakably solid. all he needs is the right vehicle.

Eckhart isn't even a real blonde....i think he is dirty blonde and in previous films he has had brown hair.

i still think he's too old. its better to have a younger actor cast, especially when there are so many talented younger actors (cough*Jensen Ackles*cough)

he didnt dye his hair for two face so i dont think he'll dye his hair for Hal. one of the few reasons i dont like bale as much as i could is because he doesnt have black hair. i like my superheroes represented the best way possible, including hair color

No thanks, there's only one actor for Hal Jordan

I hadn't thought of him for GL before but now that I see it ... I SEE IT.

The only proviso I have is whether he's now too old for the part? Jim's been around a while and I see the GL movie as the start of Hal's journey.

Seriously though, Eckhart would be a fine Green Lantern. Yeah, he's 40, but Hal Jordan has been depicted as graying. There's no need to cast some 23 year old pretty boy for the role.

Eckhart as GL will never happen, imo. No one is gonna cast someone who played a major role in Nolan's Batman series in another DC film. I just don't see it happening.

40 doesnt work in an origin though. One of the reasons why I hate origins. I definitely think Hal is more interesting now than he was. And a Corps movie with all 4 earth GLs will differentiate it from the other established superhero flicks.

Eckhart certainly has the talent to take it somewhere interesting.

Depends on the character.

How do you expect the public to find out their origins? They're not going to read the comics and most comic franchises don't have the clout to get tv shows or cartoons.

They can do that by making a GL Corps. franchise after GL is established with Hal. Starting a GL movies showing everyone to fast could overwhelm the audience if they have no prior introduction with the franchise.
