With POTC2 showing the advancements yet again in CGI which member of the F4 would you like to see spruced up for the sequel ?

For me it would have to be Reed, his stretching looked pretty shoddy and cartoony last time IMO I also wouldn't mind some more CGI on The Thing to make him look more rock-like and less rubbery

I'm really hoping they'll consider something like this for Ben's face. They can still use the body suit, but put markers on MC's face and do the head digitallly.

It would be lot easier for MC and could improve the look.

Dito. Reed's effects never looked real. I hope they have a bigger budget to tweak him and make the Silver Surfer look perfect too.

That there is proof that they could do the Thing as he looks in the books, heavy brow, button nose and all. I'm sorry but no matter how nice a job they may have done on Chiklis's suit it just didn't impress me at all: The Thing should be something that triggers awe from the viewers, have them wondering just how the hell did they did they create this monster so well, not knowing full well it's just a guy in a rubber suit lacking any 'wow' factor whatsoever.

Reed also could do with with some work, perhaps hand the job of animating his effects to a better artist (the quality of CGI is as much down to the guys doing the job as it is to the technology available).

They had Reed in pretty good shape by the end of the movie.....so I think Thing needs some upgrades....

I agree but i wonder would they alter him so drastically visually which would mess up continuity ? i suppose they could use the story that it has gotten worse over time

I think they already established in the first film they were still mutating but they could easilly expand on that again here. With Ben it could be handled in his first scene: first show him from behind (so the audience dont know whats coming) while Reed is looking him over and asking Ben how he is handling his mutation. Then the camera pans round to the front and we see Ben in all his glory. Might be neat to have Ben say to Reed at this point "Please tell me this aint gonna get any worse".

Yes, I see no problem with that....or Reed tries something else and ends up making it worse....and that could counter the stupid writing of Ben saying he was fine with his condition "as is" as he put it...

The really beautiful aspect of that would be that it would add an extra legitimacy to Ben "blaming" Reed.

Definitely, because I think that was lost at the party in the last scene...

Everybody should be improved but I think that Thing needs it the most.

Yeah, maybe a few on Reed,a good looking Silver Surfer,a good looking armor to Dr.Doom and "digital support" to Ben.

Thing could use some touching up here and there.

I saw the movie again recently, the body suit doesn't really work around the neck area. They should think about a combination of the suit and CGI.

They need to take this movie up some steps. The CGI would be a good place to start.

Call ILM please and have them upgrade the entire film.....

ILM costs $$$$$$

As for who needs and 'upgrade' I think Reed needs to be improved a lot effects wise.

I thought Reeds effects were the best of the bunch.

THe reason people think it looked cartoony was that he streched and changed shape like a cartoon.....THATS WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE!

thats his power... they went allot farther then they needed to make it look real, with muscles and tendons stretching and such.

What more do you want? :thing:

There was a noticeable difference between Reed's effects at the beginning of the movie and those that were put in later at the end. The fact that they had to cut more than half of his effects on the bridge scene showed they were not ready as far as his effects. BUT in the end they finally got them right.
