Elder Scrolls V - Part 4

I was like "How the hell could these Thalmor" be competition to the empire? Then their mages came out and were striking me with lightning. And then I was "Oh, that's why."

Yup, pretty bad ass battle mages. I might do that for my next playthrough. A sick ass High Elf battle mage.

They're not making a compromise, they're prolonging the inevitable. The ultimate plan of the Thalmor is to destroy mankind. If they're going to die anyway, they might as well live as free men.
They made a compromise to bide their time and regain their strength. The Empire knows the Thalmor are a threat. But how can they hope to defeat them when they have an egomaniac like Ulfric being a thorn in their side? The Empire -Cyrodil, Skyrim, Hammerfell, High Rock, Elsewyr, Black Marsh, Morrowind- need to stand united against them to have a chance of defeating them. If the Empire falls to them, what will save Skyrim? Ulfric is too arrogant to see this, he just wants to be the High King and eradicate all Nords from Skyrim.

Torygg didn't have to accept the challenge, but he did, knowing the terms.
He wouldn't have if he knew Ulfric was going to use a shout.

Ulfric proved Torygg wasn't a worthy king. "The Way of The Land™"™ goes by the general rule "might makes right" and Torygg didn't have what it took. Maybe Torygg should have bothered to study a few thu'ums of his own.
You say people should govern themselves, which is what they do in Skyrim as the Jarls elect a High King, then basically say the strongest should be allowed to be a dictator (which is what Ulfric would become).

And a few racist Stormcloaks doesn't make them all racist. And regarding the way the Empire handles things, I'd consider murder worse than discrimination. "Son."
Except EVERY Stormcloak is a racist. Part of being a Stormcloak is that Skyrim is home to Nords first and foremost. They don't want any other race to have power let alone live. Almost every Nord in Windhelm is racist, they force the Dark Elves to live in slums and prohibit Argonians and Khajiit from even entering the city. Ulfric is the Jarl and lets this happen. Explain how this isn't racist.

Again, The Aldmeri Dominion is going to continue their attacks on the Empire regardless of what they do. The Thalmor want humanity gone and the Empire is screwed. Degrading themselves to eak out, at most, a few more years of "peace" (despite mass political imprisonment) is accepting annihilation without honor.
The Empire has not simply accepted this. They distrust the Thalmor and are going along with them for now. But they cannot fight both the Thalmor and the Stormcloaks at the same time, that is why the Thalmor want the Stormcloaks to win. Let the Imperial Legion lose soldiers fighting rebels and then conquer both when they're divided.

Keep in mind that The Empire also includes the Dark Elves, who aren't a part of the dominion.

I wouldn't say EVERY Stormcloak is a racist... What's his face from the beginning of the game is happy to help me no matter my race. :p

Just beat the main quest, just epic.

Storming Sovangarde, and fighting with the three heroes from the Elder Scroll time rift against the world eater in the presence of several (in game) famous heroes. That's how you do a main quest, heh.

So done all the major quest lines. Now to either finish up the random quests, buy a bigger house and decorate it with all my junk, find the remaining shouts, and explore the joys of virtual wedding bliss....or start a dual magic wielding guy, and mess with the college of Winterhold line I skipped over.

Edit - I do see why everyone says it gets too easy. On a normal setting everything goes down in one hit (not even charged), and barely anything moves my health. I had to raise the difficulty to Master in order for the difficulty to feel right again.

I want this.

Here's my step by step pro strategy:

1. Wait for it to land.
2. Breath fire at it.
3. Smash it in the face until my fire breath is recharged.
4. Repeat until dead.

Alright. I assume I have to equip the shield to get up close to the bastard first, right?

No. I go right up to them and hack at them. When they breathe fire/frost, I use Fus Ro Da to shut them up.

Elsywer is part of the Dominion, the Black Marsh is no longer part of the Empire, but I also don't recall them being mentioned as part of the Dominion. Morrowind while technically still part of the Empire has basically become an abandoned wasteland because the Nords, Orcs and Aragonians all invaded it following the eruption of a volcano which wiped out Vvardenfell. So yeah, Morrowind is really no more.

So I just became a werewolf. Should I stay a werewolf? Does it have negative side effects?

Aside from not getting rested bonus - not really and it also makes you immune to all diseases.

Can you remove the werewolf curse after you have passed the quest that allows you to do so? Or was that your only chance?

Yes. I actually did that just last night.

By the way, the Companions storyline is pretty terrible. Are the other factions' stories just as short?

Yes. Well, I can't speak for the College of Winterhold but I've completed The Companions, the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood. The Thieves Guild particularly disappointed me. There is no major heist like the Imperial Palace from Oblivion. It is essentially just dungeon crawling. Same with The Dark Brotherhood (sans the final assassination of [blackout]The Emperor[/blackout]).

They may have improved the main quests quite a bit from Oblivion, but they really downgraded when it comes to side quests. I think they over-estimated how impressive Radiant Quests are. They are all essentially "Go from point A to point B, kill/steal, return, repeat." I'd love to see the DLC open up some new faction side quests. I want some proper Thieves Guild heists and some assassinations that feel like assassinations.

The college at winterhold was pretty short, but it was fun. And the biggest perk at the end is
you become the archmage and get access to all of the potions and ingredients in the archmage quarters

I have to agree, The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild stories were more interesting in Oblivion. But i think overall Skyrim is the superior game.

I disagree about the Thieves Guild. It was a lot more basic in Oblivion. The Devin and Vex thief jobs are essentially the sum of all the parts of the oblivion quests.

The companion missions are pretty good so far. That first one where I had to kill the falmer leader was tough. I think I was level 9. and he had a big dwarven robot thing too

Skyrim is definitely the better game. And I loved oblivion

I agree with both points. I've semi bit my tongue, because Skyrim is the better game, but I did feel the Thieves Guild, and DB were downgraded.

Taking all of those steps, (Springheel Jack's Boots, ect) setting up the perfect heist, sneaking in to the last place you want to get caught, and stealing an Elder Scroll. Followed up by a world changing event (Theieves Guild becomes official and gets a building), and a nice reward in Nocturnal's mask. In Skyrim the Thieves Guild felt like a DB hybrid. Killing no longer banned...heck, even instead of a great heist you're hunting someone down. It wasn't bad, just not as epic feeling as Oblivion's.

The DB I think was just more of the same. The DB in Oblivion gave us one of the best and most convincing groups of NPC's however. Both ended up dealing with betrayal, and gave big ending events. I think the DB in Skyrim could have benefited from a longer story, and the big assassination having huge in game ramifications, rather than random guard comments.

I tried to kill a mammoth yesterday. I got it to come up a flight of stairs and it got stuck. When I went behind it, the beast turned and killed me :(
