I was asked a question. I gave an answer.

I figure that's fair... Right? I didn't come out of no where announcing my beliefs to the Hype. I tend to keep that to myself. However, when I'm questioned about my friggin' sanity or being treated as if I committed some crazy ass hate crime because I found what Pat said to be funny.. I figure I better "explain" myself or else the Hype Cops will show up at my door (web browser) ready to pull a Joesph Stalin on my account.

I'm not accusing you of a hate crime. I just get really frustrated when people say things out of ignorance (I'm not saying you are, just the comments are). I'm not going to ask why you don't agree with being gay, that's for another thread entirely.

The mass media shows gay people in a terrible light, and video games do not help this at all.
There are no "real" gay characters in video games, at least not to my knowledge. They all fit the stereotype of being flamboyant, flirtatious and promiscuous. I'm talking about Anders from Dragon Age, Makoto from Enchanted Arms, and even that guy from that got Fus Ro Dah-ed. The only time I have stumbled upon a gay relationship in a game, it's a game where you are allowed to create your character. I've never seen a game, like Uncharted, where it's highly story based and linear, with a real gay character or relationship. *end rant*

I'm not being stuck up. You guys dislike Spock for saying killing kids in Skyrim is okay, yet you attack me for saying violence against gay people in Skyrim is wrong?

I personally didn't have anything against it(i mean i find it funny someone goes through the trouble of adding in the ability to kill kids). One of the FIRST things i did as a werewolf was hulk out in the orphanage and try to kill as many people as i could. Why? Because i can. I have a problem with you and other people like you getting worked up over a piece of fiction that has no bearing on reality. Its the GTA argument that the media spins out all over again

People should not be cheering or supporting violence against gays online, offline, or in a video game.

Its a game. Who cares? No one on here has a problem when i run over an old lady in GTA. Or that i pay for a hooker, then kill her to retrieve my money. But if that old lady happened to be an old lesbian, then OH NOES, EVILZ!!!


This all started because i dragon shouted a dude that came on to me in a VIDEO GAME. Guess what, iv done the same to random strangers in that game and ill continue to do so.

Can we get Spock back in here? This is just out of hand. We don't need to turn this into a gay rights for virtual characters argument. I think it's safe to say most people here are sane enough to know not to commit the acts they do in games in real life.

Besides, the Skyrim NPCs aren't even gay or straight. The Amulet of Mara just triggers the alternate dialog they have in their program that offers the player the option to marry them.

I did not intend to "throw gasoline on a fire". I simply said that people should not be cheering violence against gays in any capacity and someone certainly isn't stuck up for being offended by comments like the one I originally read. I didn't use my bolded "Oz" voice nor did I issue any on-thread warnings, issue official warnings, or throw out full infractions. People tend to forget that mods are allowed to have opinions and can state those opinions.

Considering this is about harming friggin video game characters, I think it is pretty out of hand. I find it ridiculous that going on a killing rampage in GTA or the No Russian level of MW2 where you kill civillians in an airport is perfectly acceptable. But hurt (not even kill) a "gay" NPC in Skyrim and suddenly we can't separate reality from fantasy.

Skyrim is a very good game. I was expecting it to be over-rated like Oblivion.
Most of the design problems have been fixed.

Speaking of that tho, how long did Bethesda wait until the first Fallout DLC was announced? Are they behind that timeline with Skyrim?

Hopefully it'll be like New Vegas: when they finally do announce DLC, it'll all come out pretty quickly.

Well, Todd Howard said before the game came out that with Skyrim they're going to do fewer DLCs than they did with Fallout, but they'll be bigger and meatier. Maybe that's why it's taking a while.

Yea thats kind of what i figured. I assumed since these were going to be so much larger then the dev time behind them was a lot longer, thus the wait. Hope we get some info soon tho. Dying to know whats in store for us.

Isn't that how it usually goes with TES games? Morrowind and Oblivion both had two DLC packs that were practically like extra games unto themselves. I remember I spent almost as long playing Bloodmoon as I did playing Morrowind.

Not exactly. Morrowind and especially Oblivion both had a lot of smaller DLC in addition to the larger expansions.

I'm cool with the larger DLC. I mean.. I don't expect DLC a week after the game is out.. I could even wait an additional month or two.

I just wanna hear something about it.

The game only bloody came out in November. I don't think they should have to announce or reveal anything until at least April.

Well you think that because you're an entitled gamer who just wants more. From a devs point of view, that is a decent amount of time for a large expansion.
