Elder Scrolls V - Part 6

I think things do actually reset after like ten in-game days or something that. They should definitely change it if it would help though.

yes but is that really all necesary? Does the game really need to keep track of that loaf of bread you dropped in one of the hundreds of houses in the world? I wonder if they considered making compromises to the game to account for this. One possible solution is to have things dynamically "reset" for non-quest items so every little minor thing isnt stored in the game's memory. Also limit the number of active quests. If you arent doing them all as you go along, you can easily find yourself with dozens of the radiant quests in your backlog and that takes up memory space. Have a set limit and prompt the player to complete or remove older ones in order to get new ones. Would this amount to having a "gimped" PS3 version? Possibly, but it would be worth it if it ended up being a functional version which is what most people want at this point.

Is it necesary? kinda...it's how persistent open world game works, with scripts running needing refference from other things etc

And the cells does clean up after certain amount of time, like Soapy said.

And you do bring up a good point, they could eliminate things that aren't really necesary, though like you said, the PS3 users will end up with a highly nerfed version of Skyrim.

I'm still positive that Dawnguard etc will eventually be released for the PS 3. And when that happens, i do think that Bethesda will need to make some kind of deal with the PS3 users...maybe a 50% discount?

I think all of you will be happy to know that my record on horses getting eliminated in my games is still intact. Last I saw of the Painted Horse I inherited from the corpse of Prior Maborel in Oblivion it was being chased into the woods by a wolf. I haven't seen it since. I think I should just not use horses until I get Shadowmere from Lucien Lachance.

P.S. Is it me or do people that claim Shadowmere as theirs in these games and let your player "borrow" him/her befall horrible fates?

I don't know...I'd settle for some added content that Xbox 360 and PC users wouldn't have, like the ability to have more than one follower or a revamp of the Adoring Fan as a follower so that you can Fus Ro Dah him from the Throat of the World.

Yeah..makes different DLC's for ps 3 players, one that specially tailored for the system.

Don't know if that's possible though, because the XBOX/PC fans would scream bloody murder.

Aaand...have you bought FO3/FO;NV yet?!?

Aaand you shouldn't be listening to within temptations...go listens to Nightwish instead!.oh wait, they're kinda disbanded right now because Anette left:csad:

That doesnt make any sense, unless the DLC never hits the PS3. If they get Dawnguard and Hearthfire that should be that. They dont need anything extra. I do think, like Paladin stated, there should be some sort of discount though.

Got nothing to say, so just gonna post some pics of things i've done on Skyrim today

On my way to Riften, witnessed a battle between Stromcloaks and Imperials patrols:

We can have everything that we want. :o

Seriously people, get a PC. The experience is :awesome:

Speaking of PC mods, anybody here Dl mods from one of those infamous Chinese sites? some of them got really cool armor mods, but i can't post it here because the site contains nudity..

Never tried it. Too much of a hassle for me.

I shouldn't have to buy a brand new pc to have mods for a game... My laptop can't play skyrim, and I have no desire to buy a new computer just so I can play a game.

They should bring that to the 360. They should be working on a way to bring player generated mods to the 360, that way console players don't feel cheated out.

Blame MS. The 360 is a closed system and tampering with it violates their TOS I think. Plus the hardware probably couldn't handle a lot of the really awesome mods anyway. The only way you're getting a mod is if Bethesda think it's good enough to include in their base game and they decide to patch it in or bundle it with DLC. :o

Maybe next gen consoles will allow full internet access or something, and then we'll be able to get mods. I'm not too fussy though, personally I always enjoy the vanilla versions of games.

Paladin, I love coming across those skirmishes. I always jump in and rescue the side of whichever my character is vying for. My Stormcloak/Werewolf character likes to go to Legion camps at night and massacre the lot of them.

I played Skyrim again for the first time in about 4 months yesterday. Remembered the controls very well, which is surprising for me. Went back to my first character who was in the middle of searching for the moth priest. Had a lot of fun but it's on a fairly old TV so the visuals leave a lot to be desired.

Or 'borrow' it, like the case with the NV modable weapons system.

Heh...these days, i'm content to just sit back and enjoy the shows. In my game, the Stormcloaks almost always wins those skirmishes though. Funny thing happened last time, one of my companions got hit by a stray arrow, and before i knew it, they've already charged in...

I stood there for about couple of minutes deciding what to do, when suddenly i heard Serana said "done and done!'

Oops..sorry guys!:woot:

^^How cool is that?!?

But...i've never really noticed any real interest from American in old Scandinavian fantasy/lore like she mentioned...

If looking from games perpective, the more popular ones are the japanese RPG's. and games like WOW isn't really based on any particular culture..

Can't really remember movies or books based on icelandic/Norse culture that's become popular -not counting Thor of course, but then again his popularity was more or less the reults of people's interest in Marvel properties, not the culture/myth he was based on.

So...any thought?

I remember watching a Youtube video of a StarCraft class and thinking how utterly insane the whole thing is.

I guess there is something to be said to using Skyrim as a way to look at Scandinavian culture but I'm guessing at a certain point the Skyrim's gonna get left behind.

For the same reason Apple keeps their tech closed is the same reason Consoles are closed. They dont want just any body mucking around with it. Its why you dont see a fraction of the PC issues appear on Apple computers. The negative to that is of course user generated content(or the lack thereof) and the flip side is a product that just, works. Its not much different with the console market.

`

I remember on some universities, watchmen and V for vendetta was required reading a while ago...

I guess i just never noticed any European influence on any American entertaintment forms. If anything, i'd say that Asian cultures is more of a valid reason for study, since it's influence can be felt throughout almost all forms of entertaintment nowadays...

there are already problems running around in the current game as we have it in the console version. i havent seen any updates or patches that deal with those problems. with a PC, one can at least fix these problems...

Right and imagine if you have a ton of ppl making and uploading things to the game, there is no way to monitor what gets created or what kind of damage it could potentially do. Its a closed system. If you want an open system, get a PC. Thats one of the big benefits to that. Instead of spending the money you did on your 360 you could of purchased a PC.

yet when i had the 360, skyrim hadnt come out yet. and when i got my laptop, skyrim hadnt come out yet.

you cant use that excuse.

bethesda needs to fix the problem with PS3, and then focus on making it an open system for both consoles.

Kal, do you play on PS 3?

The thing is, no console developers would want to grant complete access to their sytems to the fans. Like Projectpat said, it's a can of worms no console devs would wants to open. Why? because everybody loves technological improvements but nobody would wanna pay the price for it.

Think about it. The bottom line is they don't want you to have access to free contents when they can make you pay for it.

I don't really know why Bethesda did it for the PC gamers. There is no other developers that i know of that gives something like the creation kit for the fans.If you don't know, the creation kit is a powerful game editor that allows you to manipulate game contents, literally everything in the game can be manipulated by that program...that's how the mods are made. They've given fans this program for free ever since their very first game.

Mods for consoles will likely never happens. The people who made the decisions don't want it to happen.

At the risk of sounding like a PC elitist, i gotta say that if you wants to enjoy games like Skyrim to it's full potential, you should get a PC.I've modded my FO3 to such an extent, you can't compare it to the original version anymore. Same with Skyrim.

And mods is much, much more than just new armors and weapons. There are mods that adds new enemies, new lands, change how NPC behaves, how the sky looks...seriously,the possibilties are almost endless. The moment you start modding your Skyrim, it won't be long before it became a completely new game.

and this is exactly why console players will be screwed over.
