Elder Scrolls V

I'm really having a difficult time avoiding listing all the awesome things I want to see in the next Elder Scrolls game...hnngggghhh....
Please don't avoid that. :yay:

hey, I had a question.

I purchased the Legendary edition previously and downloaded/installed the 3 expansion packs to my 360. I've since traded in my copy of Skyrim.

Since the expansion packs are already downloaded on my 360, would I need a copy of the Legendary edition for them to work?

Or, if I just went out and bought the original Skryim, would the expansion packs work with that?

I ask this because I can find a used copy of the original Skyrim fairly cheap. but, I didn't know if I need to have the Legendary disc in my 360 for the expansions to work.

thanks.

Yea any edition of Skyrim will work. That legendary ed just contained the DLC downloads, it's not like they were tied to the disc

Not really familiar with GOT all that much, but that was cool. Makes me wanna jump into Skyrim.

Here's the opening on the show for comparison:

Well, I just got The Legendary Edition for $40 for my PS3 (which isn't bad I guess). It's been a long time since I've played an Elder Scrolls game, so I'm looking for some suggestions on the "classes" I should build. I'm kind of leaning toward a Nord melee with Restoration, but since there will be dragons in this game I'm not sure how a melee class can deal with it. My other option is a mage/thief with archery, perhaps with Drow as its race, but I'd like to hear some thoughts on these first. Thanks.

The game is pretty free form. You improve skills by using them, so you can switch on the fly easily. I'm playing a duel wielding swords Nord right now who has no problem taking on dragons. I'm even wearing light armor too. But if you really worried about them, I'd say starting off as a classic Sword(Axe/Mace)/Shield combo, with Archery as a back up is a safe bet.

Thanks. So you don't have to play range in order to take on dragons? Because I read that they could stay in flight and attack you at the same time, and they have fire/frost breathing as well as screams to assault you from a distance.

You get some ranged magic abilities over the course of the story.

Even if they land they can still just fly away if you get near to killing them. Makes fighting them annoying.

You can play whatever to take on dragons, although I enjoy being stealthy with a bow and taking them out that way. Sometimes I flat out just charge them with a sword, or use magic. Some dragons are just easier than others, if you're strong enough you can do whatever to them.

I just starting muddling around with Skyrim again after a long hiatus. Naturally this got me thinking about what the next installment might be like, and one idea I've had has gotten rather good responses from the people I've mentioned it to. I'd be interested to know what you fine chaps think:

In the next installment of The Elder Scrolls, I think it'd be great if they took a page from the book of GTA V and allowed you to have multiple characters within the same save/world. While you could only play as one at time, you could potentially have the others as followers with basic commands. When not being controlled by the player, and not being used as a follower, you could (in my theory) set basic tasks for each character, such as walk from A to B, chop wood, or simply stay put.

That's a very brief version, I've given it a lot of thought as to various details etc, but the above paragraph would be the basis for it.

That would be cool I suppose. Personally, I would be happy if they just added some kind of special bank or chest that was shared between characters.

Personally I'd just be happy if we could train our minions... I mean followers. It's fine having a mage follower who knows two basic spells at level 5 but when they still use those spells at level 50 it's a bit of an issue. I want them to be able to use expert level spells and just out-doing me in damage when I try to do the same. Don't make it easy or cheap for them to learn new things, make it cost out the ying yang to do it so it makes it something that you have to invest a lot into to beef them up.

I'm going to make a Imperial Paladin because back when I used to play D&D, Paladin was my class of choice. However, I will be making other classes and see which one I like most. I wish there's a way to name your saved game files so you'll know which one is which, though.

In Skyrim the files have the character names.

it's F2P, but you still have to buy the game for $60, right?

ah, great. I can live with that. My interest has returned to the game now that there's no monthly sub fee.

I do wonder, though, if Live/PS+ will be required to play the game or just any multiplayer stuff.

like, can you play the game solo without having to have Live or PS+?

Can't wait for proper ES VI discussion. I don't mind if the game is a few years away as it will be that much better and I don't have time to play it anytime soon anyway.

For ES VI, I'd like to see a return to Cyrodil. Skyrim was a good setting, but everything blurred together. Cyrodil was a nice fantasy setting. It's what I expect in a medieval, Tolkien type setting. There were times in Oblivion where I'd just stop and stare at a lake, or tree line because it was so pretty. In Skyrim I always seemed to be on the move, and only stopped to appreciate the view on mountain tops.

There's a laundry list of things I'd like to see return from both games, and see improved upon. The combat and leveling from Skyrim, the create your own spells and item system from Oblivion. Older ideas like guilds, and newer ones like the marriage, adoption, and house building from Skyrim. Maybe add in improved farming, training of followers, more weather and seasonal changes.

As for new things, I'd like the inclusion of multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, ES is a single player game to me. However I'd like to be able to invite people into my home after I spend hours decorating it, or have someone tag along in a dungeon.

I'd also like to see the difficulty go up a little. Oblivion messed up by increasing armor on enemies as difficutly went up (i.e. Goblins appearing with glass mail). Skyrim just became too easy, even at max difficulty setting I was still one shotting things towards the end.
