"MTV: Are you itching to do something on a larger scale?

Roth: It's interesting, because I've had opportunities to do franchise movies. Once your movie opens at #1, you're offered everything. There were movies like "Halo," and they're remaking "The Hulk" again, and "Die Hard 4," and I just thought I'd rather write and direct and do my own thing. I don't need to jump to a $100 million movie. There were some books I was interested in. I was like, "I'd love to do 'The Phantom Tollbooth' or 'In the Heart of the Sea.' " But the truth is, right now I love writing and directing my own stories. I really wanted to adapt the "Tripods" trilogy, but it went to another director."

Pretty interesting, I'm glad he turned it down though. his movies really haven't been very good, in my opinion. I'm perfectly fine with who we have now. If Roth directed this it would be nothing but sex for the first hour of the movie, with all the action taking place in the last 30. Okay... So maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but still.

Me too because we all know Cabin Fever puts him on a whole other level. The guy is pretty damn arrogant not only in these comments but his comments on his site.

This guy is so full of crap. No way did they offer him Halo or The Hulk. Mr Roth, would you like to direct Halo? No thanks, I'd rather direct a sequel to Hostel. Nobody would let this guy near a $100 million dollar movie. Well, maybe Fox.

I don't see though where he said HE was offered the role. He just said they made this and that and he's not interested in it. Am I missing something?

Maybe you're right, if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he certainly seems to imply that he was offered Halo, Hulk, and Die Hard 4, but decided against it.

I could see him doing Die Hard 4 but he's much more suited for films like The Punisher. At least he hasn't shown anything above a horror/blood & guts type film yet. I can't imagine them offering him Halo...but who knows. LOL

Keep making your direct to video quality torture/snuff/comedy flicks that you dare call a Horror Film, Eli.

I hate this guy, and I hate horror media outlets who slob the guys knob like he's the next big thing. The guy should do a Porkys remake, thats more his speed.

I agree, This sicko snuff crap is getting out of hand! Don't forget Q. Tarentino's not far behind.

Well I've changed my mind about him, slightly. I still think he would have been horrible for Hulk, but I have a little respect for him as a director now that I've seen his "Thanksgiving" trailer from grindhouse. I have no problem with "torture/snuff" stuff as long as it's done well, but his previous films were just stupid and boring, but thanksgiving is awesome and entertaining, and very authentic looking. Who know his best work would be a 3 minute trailer?

I dont think so. Roth is just a student film hack who likes to disturb people, not a Horror Film Director. At least Tarentino rips off vauge foreign films and grade D flicks. Roth makes films about german dentists and diseased hillbilly backwaters.

As far as his Thanksgiving Trailer goes, well, he is emulating the 80's Slasher genre... which is right up his alley concidering the lame, unoriginal rip-offs that came out during that time.

I meant as far as the sickening gore! Kill Bill was so loaded with blood it was overkill. I totally lost interest & didn't even finish the movie.

Only a nut bag like him could worship those crappy B movies & want to remake them.

He would be a good choice if they ever do a darker Hulk film with freaky villains and the Grey Hulk.
