I really hope Elektra eventually gets the headscarf thing. It's her signature costume piece.

Mentioned on a season 2 early review:

Season 2 moves along at a quicker pace than Season 1, and the introduction to iconic characters like The Punisher and Elektra (Élodie Yung) really spice up the early episodes. Speaking of the lady in red, fans should be quite pleased with this extremely faithful incarnation of the character, as Yung is visually ripped from the panels of a Frank Miller comic. She looks the part and plays it with confidence, seduction and dangerous intrigue. Oh, and she can kick ass too. Naturally. There’s real, palpable chemistry between Yung and Cox, and whenever they’re onscreen together there’s an air of danger along with a feeling of a loss of control – for both characters.

I'm hoping this outfit lets her fit more amongst civilians, and eventually we'll see a badass female version of Nobu's ninja costume for Elektra that's practical but has comic influences like the head scarf.

Meh the "costume" if that is it looks really generic.

If it wasn't for her Sai's she could easily pass as any random woman on the street. Maybe that's the idea?

I mean they spent the whole first season explaining why he'd need to change outfits for practical purposes.

Also his black outfit was undoubtedly a costume, this is a sensibly dressed woman.

That's got to be her regular civilian clothes with a practical turtleneck to disguise her face when needed. I'd expect her to wear some semblance of an original ninja outfit at some point.

Uhh, It was black clothes, drywall pads, and a headscarf. It wasn't a costume as much of a reminder Marvel still makes mistakes like the 1990's.

It's called reminding people of a bad adoption from the 90's to me. I still cringe hearing people say how they preferred the budget "suit" to the real costume he got at the very end of the show. My opinion would be entirely different if he got the real suit in episode 4-5, but they had him go through how many episodes saying he needed to modify his costume?

Yeah, but he had no idea how to do it and who to go to until he found out about Fisk's costume. Then he finally met Melvin Potter who helped him out with it. He couldn't have really done it before that.

But it's clear that you are impatient and can't wait for some character development to happen to give a reason as to why a hero is wearing what they are wearing.

In the second trailer DD and her are in a rooftop, seen from behind, and she's wearing something different. The outline the clothes make is not the same as this outfit that we've been shown clearly.
Is it the red ninja suit? Or something that looks more like it?

Yeah, she's wearing something different there. It looks like her ninja outfit with the sash she has in the comics along with arm wraps/covers of some sort.

Yep that looks like a costume change to me. Entire outfit looks like it has more leather, gives off a bit of shine under that lighting.

I think that her costume will evolve over time just like DD's did (I also think that Punisher's will as well btw). I mean I could totally see them not going with the 100% classic comic one (they didn't even do that with DD himself) because, well it's essentially a glorified butt flap/loin clothe with some random ribbons thrown in.

But something a bit more "Elektra-like," but modified to better fit this universe, sure.

As for Elodie, well just based on this little snippet, she seems like a good choice to play Elektra imo.
