There's permanent brand damage done in these few months that he's made his idiocy so public. Other major company CEOs aren't so high profile and reckless. There are many people who would have one day bought a Tesla who never will now. Even if he goes completely offline from here that damage has been done IMO unless he leaves the company.

If the board wasn't a bunch of Elon sycophants, he probably would be in a lot more trouble. As it is, the shareholders are going to have to go at the board (again, see the lawsuit about Elon's bonkers Tesla pay).

And honestly, I'm not entirely sure how much of this will recover from Elon's antics. There has been some not great news about Tesla recently.
 
The sabotage never stops. Must be so annoying for Tesla investors to see it still happening after the effects of doing so have become all too apparent. He’s addicted at this point and no advisers are going to stop this, like Trump’s 3am toilet binges.

You'd think Elon must be having people yelling at him to cool it down at least. Like that should have some effect on his behavior.
 
Musk surrounds himself with yes men and other people who can't tell him to behave.

He fires anyone who yells at him! Dude got inspired by Trump and now is suffering the consequences of exposing his idiocy very publicly to the world. It’s not easy wrecking billion dollar corps (trillion in Tesla’s case not so long ago) so fast when they have so many moving parts and supposedly numerous checks and balances, but a stint worshipping at Trump Business School can make many things possible. :D

Yep. He created the illusion derived from the sycophants he keeps around him and his worshippers on his Twitter that he was very popular, and this all came crashing down with that Chapelle appearance. He’ll double down on fishing for compliments from his MAGA fans all day and won’t risk being in that situation again.

He borrowed against an asset that was insanely overvalued. In fact, even with the bit of a rebound (ugggh) it is still way overvalued.

With people packed into more confined spaces, the smell of leftover takeout food and body odor has lingered on the floors, according to four current and former employees. Bathrooms have grown dirty, these people said. And because janitorial services have largely been ended, some workers have resorted to bringing their own rolls of toilet paper from home.

Mr. Musk’s erratic and hands-on style has thrown off a number of workers, as he often interrupts meetings seemingly at random, talking for long stretches and asking some top leaders to be sounding boards for his ideas, two people familiar with his management of Twitter said.

He has also asked some leaders to snuff out the sources of leaks to the press and anonymous posts on social media sites, three people said, and is focused on eliminating people inside the company he believes are opposed to him.
