Elon Musk Buys X (formerly Twitter): Just Use Bluesky, Threads, or Mastodon Instead

He's used to having the government subsidize a ton of his companies' bills.
He's lucky the US Government would rather invest in the private sector than fund and create their own research. :o

Oh Elon. Just because you were suckered in at a insanely high price, doesn't mean others will. Others have actually heard of this thing called due diligence.
Except he was not suckered into it. He made a stupid "420" joke with the unasked for offer and then massively overpaid for Twitter when he realized his joke had a legally binding contract behind it which is why he tried to get out of it before it went to court and he realized he done ****ed up.

The only sucker here was Elon. He made the offer, he wrote and signed the contract (no one with a law degree would have wrote such a bad contract) and he is the one now wrecking it instead of turning it over to someone more competent, less thin skinned, less reactionary and not Elon Musk.

Is Elon new to comparables? Talking about an external factor that would affect techs in general and the rest of the sector is pretty dumb when they have performed much better with the same restriction. This is the first thing anyone looks at when assessing a stock price move. Bit worrying to hear from the CEO of multiple companies.

Oh, he absolutely got suckered in by Twitter's lawyers. He did not realize just quite what he agreed to, and assumed his normal Elon bull**** would allow him to get out of it. And quite frankly, he only went through with it because I am assuming there was something quite damning he would have to admit to under deposition.

And Tesla stock has officially dropped below $150. Going to be some fun times when the markets reopen on Mon.

So, just when I thought I couldn't despise Musk more, he did an unthinkable thing. (Or, at least to me) He quoted Dune. And not just any Dune, no. Although I do find that sexists can easily find a lot to love about Frank Herbert's writings, with their frankly sexists ideas on gender roles. The cardinal sin of scifi fandom, he quoted one of the new books, by Brian Herbert and Kevin J (I may as well wrote Rise of Skywalker myself) Anderson. And not one where they were trying to go more off his notes. No, he went with one of the Butlerian Jihad books.

Man must revoke his nerd card.

This is what he allegedly has lawyers for.

Link trees are also prohibited. This is going to affect a lot of content creators.

Elon Musk: "The acid test for any two competing socioeconomic systems is which side needs to build a wall to keep people from escaping? That’s the bad one!" (June 5, 2022)

When is the damn thread title getting updated to 'Elon Musk buys and tries his best to bury Twitter'.

Blocks Truth, but not Parlor. Also facebook. So, definitely some antitrust issues, it sounds like. And twitter is definitely having issues. Probably the biggest sign of active users dropping.

:D Changed.

Anyone know how to search for posts on Mastodon? No matter what term I type in it always shows me "Could not find anything for these search terms" I've had this issue for weeks. Am I doing it wrong somehow or is the function bugged/broken?

Judd Legum: "IMPORTANT: @elonmusk's new policy preventing linking to competitors is in DIRECT VIOLATION of European Union rules. Penalty can be a fine of up to 20% of Twitter's annual revenue The Digital Markets Act: ensuring fair and open digital markets"

Reuters - Exclusive: Musk's banks to book Twitter loan losses, avoid big hits -sources
Some of the banks that lent Elon Musk $13 billion to buy Twitter are preparing to book losses on the loans this quarter, but they are likely to do so in a way that it does not become a major drag on their earnings, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

What is 20% of nothing? Because I don't see Twitter having much revenue for them to fine soon.

Venture capitalist Paul Graham who was praising Musk for running Twitter a month ago has been banned by Musk for criticizing him and leaving for Mastodon.

What are the chances Twitter stock will have fallen further on Monday?

When you are bleeding cash like an arterial cut, any fine is going to be extremely rough. And hey, let the EU take that 20% cut (after Apple's 8%) of twitter blue idiots and that mypillow and gold2cash advertisement money.

Do you mean, Tesla, because Twitter currently not publicly traded.

And it is definitely going to drop when trading opens. After hours it had dropped to below $150, that is going to be a shock to investors.

Sorry, I thought they were both traded, but yeah. If I was invested in Tesla I'd be bailing too. Elon's management style is beyond awful.
