Episode 07 - "Nothing To Hide" - Discussion Thread

I'll start off saying I'm surprised to actually have something decent to say about this show that is overall, crap.

Radioactive Man, a nice side story. Guy's power killed the closest loved one. Different, and no reason for him to become a hero.

Claire's brother finding the tape so soon, not exactly expected. But him giving it back only negated it.

That's that. Now Claire's blood being sucked back into body might have been cool if it didn't look so stupidly obvious that it was just a bleed played backwards. And that she hadn't bled that much in the first place. She went from having a small smear of blood, to having a small pool jump back into a tiny hole.:down

I hope they kill off Nikki soon, she's boring and Ali Larter is a bad actress. (Did we really need to go through the scene where she tries to explain Jessica but her friend thinks she crazy? Great Idea!!?! Yawn.) Nikki and Jessica are supposed to be completely different psyches, yet Ali hasn't done anything to make them notably different. Jessica has taken out armed people with ease, surely that would make her the ultra-confident version of Nikki. But no, she's just Nikki who keeps a straight face and talks slower. Oh and Jessica is supposedly a total badass who rips people in half, but still needs a gun.

Mikah's power could be interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nathan's wife needs a blood transplant later and Claire just happens to be a perfect match. Thus making her walk again.

Cop wife's affair, not greatest shock ever. But it was nice they revealed who straight away.

Still not too keen on the show, but will continue to watch in hopes of it getting better.

Nowhere does any of that even hint that Mohinder has an ability, much ess one as specific as multiplying.

It's not hard to believe his dad would name the lizard mohinder... and no, Mohinder is not secretly a lizard-man either.

I don't know where the multiplication bit came from either, but there's nothing to indicate Mohinder won't have an ability. The fact that he's one of the main stars of the show is a good indication that he probably will have one, in fact. Wasn't there something where the creator said all of the main characters would have powers?

It just dawned on me... Mohinder should've smelled a rat when Cute Short Haired Girl told him about that lizard also named Mohinder.

Papa Suresh would NEVER name the lizard Mohinder cause, in India, it's considered bad luck to name a pet, or any other animal, with a relative's name.

Huh, that's an interesting factoid. Maybe the Sureshes just aren't superstitious. They're a family of scientists, after all.

What's the problem? Kill him from afar. Makes things easier.

Yeah, I assumed she just didn't want a repeat of her last close-quarters fight with DL. A gun would make things a lot simpler and less risky.

But they do maintain a religious side, like the statue of the Elephant God Ganesha Mohinder was about to clunk the bug-guy with.

o interesting i didnt know that. hm... but then someone can still be in a religion and still not believe in some aspects or some superstitions of it...

or could of been simply been sliped by the writers

Well didn't he react weirdly too as soon as she said that? I thought he looked at her inquizitively(sp?). So maybe just maybe it wasn't a slip, but another clue to the puzzle the writers are putting together.

Remember its like a comic. We have to examine it as such.

Inquisitively.

As the crazily named poster above you indicated, religious beliefs aren't necessarily indicative of superstitions. I'm not sure if the origin of that particular superstition is even religious. If it isn't, that'd be like saying Peter must believe that stepping on cracks will actually break his mother's back because he's Christian or Jewish or something.

That might explain his loss of faith in his fathers work, he suspected her of being a plant and therefore put on a show to get her and her people of his back...

It would be way better if Mohinder was setting up a secret lab somewhere rather then him just being disillusioned about his fathers work.

I'm sure that was just a jokey "I can't believe you guys gave my name to a creepy pet" moment.

If you watch all episodes again (I have 'em on my HD), you'll notice that almost everything that's spoken has a double meaning.

I'm not so sure about that, but one thing to remember is that in making good film or TV, you don't waste a single shot. So either that scene with the reptile was meant to just bring the two a little closer and create a false trust, or there was more to it than that...

Or it could've just been to show that Chandra was just as unhappy with how estranged he and his son had become as Mohinder was. Naming a pet after him is kind of like having a piece of Mohinder with him in America--a loyal, accepting piece, no less. That's what I figured it meant.

your kidding? it almost beat the record then huh?!!

Damn...That's so awesome! :D How was it shown?
D.L. and Micah end up stopping at a motel. Soon after, Micah sneaks out to a near by pay phone to try and call Nikki. Only to find that the pay phone is broken. He touches it lightly, then concentrates for a few seconds. The phone starts to work again.
