Episode 05 - "Hiros" - Discussion Thread

does it have to be a bomb?
Well, no - but most of the characters seem to believe it's a bomb. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Also, regarding Hiro's English - aren't Japanese students required to learn basic English in school at some point or another?

the fact that most everybody thinks it's a bomb is the main reason that makes me lean some other unexpected thing is going to happen

and yes, methinks they do take english in Japan, just like they do here in Mexico

But he didn't speak much english in the earlier episodes.

What could it be?

Godzilla?

I was tinkering with the idea of Sylar using a self-exploding power or something. That's why he would need Claire's healing ability.

But could a power like that create an explosion that powerful?

Remeber in that preview that guy that had the ability to heat up that water (the prisoner) maybe he has an ability to actualy cause things to combust, and sylar ends up taking his power (assuming that sylar is a power thief) and combines other powers in order to create the explosion.........NAH thats WAY to farfetched hehe

i was thinking it can can be some sort of power also

perhaps like a gambit type power

i think parkman was doing the water thing. he was getting all angry/emotional in it... the guy across from him just looked confused and scared.

Mr. Bennet/HRG: Yeah I'm in the "he's not bad" camp. I get the feeling he is just studying/cataloging heroes. Maybe for the government, maybe for someone else. After all he only had Matt's memories of those two erased. Obviously he's been painted as a bad guy as a red herring. He'll do something totally rad before the end of the season.

D.L. Hawkins: In addition to his ability to pass through things, I think he's also invisible. I'm really curious to see how his character pans out. I'm not so sure he's a total criminal. What are the odds that two superheroes meet up and procreate, btw? Funky.

If HRG isn't bad, who the deuce was the guy who tried to kill Mohinder earlier in the episodes? Was it someone from HRG? hmmm.

Also, some of my friends from other boards have been saying that the Japanese they've been using for the episodes is really bad - like, nigh incomprehensible to native Japanese speakers.

Because its more slang japanese. Years of watching jdorama I spotted that instantly. Its a kind of a young adult thing, just how we have the slang here in america.

BTW, how far from the future Future Hiro is? It takes some time to let you hair grow THAT long.

We don't know. They never told us and there is really no way to figure it out ourselves. We can only guess.

I'm guessing it must be a REALLY long time, because not only has he come from a time where he has long hair, but he's also come from a time that considers soulpatches cool.

So he comes from the PAST, damn, this complicates things even more.

I really want to be in the HGR isnt bad camp - but his reaction to finding his daughter having powers (something like "its a shame, she was so beautiful" or something I believe) makes me think otherwise.

I am wondering if D.L. has the ability to control his density, similar to Martian Manhunter. That would give him phasing, invisibility and superstrength.

If HRG is really just trying to study mutants, than perhaps the phone guy was working for him and paniced when Mo found him.
