I haven't read the whole thread so maybe someone else answered this but...why the @#$% was Syler confused about the cheerleaders? So far they have made it seem like he is killing people with powers. If he could somehow tell with the others...why not with Claire?

stuff you've got to know first:

-Sylar was Chandra Suresh's "patient zero"
-Chandra Suresh had devised a "method" to identify and locate people with special abilities
-Chandra had a map with names, locations and markings of special people
-Sylar became very familiar with Suresh's work
-Mohinder Suresh (Chandra's son) found a whole lot more information than what he had found on his father's office in Sylar's appartment
-Sylar knows the names and locations of specials becuase of the map or some other device
-it was Jackie and not Claire who got the media attention for saving the guy from the fire in the first episode
-Sylar knew he had to kill a cheerleader in Odessa who saved a guy from a fire, you just ask around or check the newspapers and there you have it
-why not Claire? it could be logical that Mr Bennet might have kept Claire off Suresh's records by request, or maybe he made sure she wasn't on Chandra's log
