Eragon trilogy

Yeah, uhhh no thanks. This is one of the worst big budgeted movies of all time. While most of my problems have to do with the complete cut and paste story from Star Wars, overall the movie just sucked in all areas besides ok special effects. This, Jumper and Ghost Rider are the only movies that I ever regretted spending money on. (Oh look, 2 out of 3 are Fox! Whatta surprise!)

BTW, I saw this movie at 10 PM on Dec 31st...crappiest way to start the new year.

You went to see a movie at 10pm on New Year's Eve?!?! You deserved what you got.

Christopher Paolini is one of the worst writers in America. The only reason why his books were successful is because people are infatuated with the idea of children writing books (nevermind that his parents worked for a major publisher, and that's how the book was produced in the first place).

I agree. His writing style is annoyingly amateur and the story is essentially a copy of Star Wars with elements from other fantasy novels. It felt like extremely disposable fantasy literature to me. The movie was a terrible movie, but I don't really think you can do much with the source material.

I thought the movie was okay. I tried reading the books I couldn't get through them because they are so tedious and boring.

But

Eragon>Twilight

Eragon, the movie about a boy who became a dragon-rider, came out a few years ago.

The books by Christopher Paolini are a huge success. The first movie in the Eragon trilogy had mediocre success at best. Is this the reason that the second book hasn't been made into a movie?

IMO, Eragon was a very entertaining movie and somewhat stayed true to the book

Sorry, but you are kidding arent you, it wasnt true to the book at all, I really enjoyed the book, but the movie was atrocious.

with all due respect but ............WTF

I know the movie was bad but wasn't the books already star wars/ lord of the rings rip off to begin with?
Were they even worth adapting?

Look, i've read the books, i enjoyed them (though I'm not holding my breath for the "finale", if he EVER gets around to finishing it) but for a movie to work, some changes have to be made because the story is essentially the first two star wars movies in a LOTR setting IMO. granted, they changed things for first movie, but the changes didn't suck because they deviated from the book, they sucked because they were intellectually and creatively bankrupt lol.

Was this thread even worth resurrecting?

weren't the changes what made fans go all it sucks?

ans are going to say that regardless imo. look at nolans batman movies, acclaimed by most fans, but far from perfect adaptations of the source material. sometimes, the source material really needs to be improved upon, this is such an occasion IMO.

True, but Batman is a comic character with way too many stories to adapt, with books is a bit different, but i do think the elements that resemble Star Wars should be changed, in least most of them.

It is normal for the story to seem derivate because it kind of started as a fan fiction starring christopher Paulini until he decided to expand the narrative
