Eragon

It may not be widely known, but the market for fantasy movies is still huge right now. I think a lot of people will go see it because it has battles and a dragon in it.

I agree

It will probably make money over 125 mill I would have thought

Everyone is exepecting it to bomb because people have decided it already sucked because an A list actor or director was not chosen for Eragon the boy and the helmer of the picture. Critics will go with the norm idealizums for they like nothing fun.

I am looking forward to critics' reviews of this movie :D
Why people put stock in critics opinion on going to films is beyond me? What a critic thinks is far down on my list as to why i see a movie. I see a movie because i wanted to not because someone else believes it sucks. If people don't like that is fine but i will not go or not go based on Ebert and Roeper or whom ever says they are film critics. Most critics like films that would put most the populus to sleep.

What the Hell kind of society are we living where a piece of junk like SR passes as a "high quality film"?

The same one in which pathetic Internet nerds like you flock to see trash X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and SNAKES ON A PLANE where you turn off your brains while gripping films like THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, MARIE ANTOINETTE, and THE QUEEN that actually some substance to them hardly graze your eyes.

...which is just pathetic and says a lot about general audiences and the fact that POTC: DMC made more than one billion dollars at the box office this summer.

Seriously, folks, give me a ****ing break...

Maybe because they don't want to waste 8 bucks on a peice of crap. If there is a film I've been following and really want to see, then I'll shell out money to see it despite the reviews. If it's just any random movie and I'm bored on the weekend, then I'm going to look at reviews to see what is good so I get the most out of my buck. For a movie like Eragon, I'll wait and see if it gets good reviews, because so far it looks like crap.

Exactly.

I think this movie will appeal to the lowest common denominator (i.e. those who saw and liked SNAKES ON A PLANE).

Fanboy hype at its worse :woot:

Wow why so much hate for this movie. Its been this way since day one. No one has given this movie a chance from the very start. My point about critics is this why even care if they like it or not. I mean these are the same people who liked Brokeback Mountain. I base my going by trailers and what ever prfered genra i like. Also if it is a good theator going movie. I think basing how good film is by stuff shirts is crazy. Sorry if you don't agree but who really cares if the critics like it or not. What would they know about a fun movie. Just because they liked Spiderman movies doesn't mean they are hip to a cool movie.

And you're not a pathetic Internet nerd?

Besides, I never saw Snakes on a Plane. The hype turned me off.

Did you even see it or are you now being a hypocrite and judging a movie you haven't seen? You're disgusting...

People watch what they want to, it doesn't make them dumb or ignorant. Is there a such of thing as having a bad taste in movies? I think there is, but I don't think people gerneraly see some of the worse movies in droves. StreetFighter came nowhere near blockbuster status.

I consider myself more than a average moviegoer looking for fun (I'm pretty sure I go to the movies more often than your average joan) but there is nothing wrong with not being serious about movies.

On a scale of 1 to 10 on important things in life movies rate a 2 really and I am absolutely am crazy about them.

BTW Snakes on a plain was a lame duck at the boxoffice, it's not and bomb or anything because it's clearly going to make money for the studio but it didn't do anything out of the norm for it's genre.

Some movies are extremely intelligent tools that force their audiences to think. Others are just so well-made and beautiful that to watch them is a unique experience. Whether or not you choose to acknowledge and watch or ignore and snub these is entirely up to you.

Actually I think it has to do with the views of people.
Critics are PAID to be critical (go figure) about a movie. To deeply examine it.

The general audience doesn't examine...they go there to be entertained...which is great. Because that's what movies are really about. Entertainment. They are not about teaching you some new life lesson...it's fun.

For not historic movies it's OK to shut off your brain and just ENJOY something instead of sitting with a stick up your butt. :)

Fair enough, but if watching a movie with your brain turned on = sitting there with a stick shoved up your butt, then watching a movie with your brain turned off = being senselessly bashed over the head with a spiked club, being castrated and having your penis stuffed in your mouth, and sitting there with a stick shoved up your butt.

Just my personal opinion, though...

If I'm going to watch a movie with my brain turned off, I at least expect the movie to be well-made and innovative, If I'm going to watch a movie with my brain turned off, I at least expect the movie to be well-made and innovative, not recycled trash from 3 years ago.

Rather people like it or not, most people see movies for fun and there is nothing wrong with that.

Above me is a dude that takes movies entirely to seriously.

No, just movies that are worth being taken seriously.

Yeah critics can be sometimes wrong with their minds. But I would rather agree with them talking about movie like Eragon.

And I am not agreed with the last aspect of your post.

Critics loved The Departed, which was very exciting movie.

Critics loved Memento, which was a masterpiece.

Critics liked also movies like BB, Se7en, The Fight Club (even if there were guys who couldn't understand it), The Prestige and other very great films.

Actually Brokeback Mountain was a very good movie.

I dont't want people to think i am a racist of any kind. For a persons life is ther buisness. I didn't like Brokeback Mountain because it was boring to me. I thaught it poked fun at Westerns which i am a big fan of. homosexual cowboys is not the reason i didn't like it. Jake Gyllenhal is why i didn't like it. Just never liked his movies. I am just mad that poeple have dumbed on Eragon from day one. Because of this and that.

How did Brokeback Mountain poke fun at westerns?

Also, not liking homosexuals doesn't make you a racist, just a bigot.

Give the guy a break. Chill out there, and take a deep breath. Try not to get the adrenaline pumping while typing on a forum.

I agree with this definitely. One crime to humanity that would be a good example of recycled trash would be Bryan Singer's rehashing of Superman: The Movie.

Don't get me wrong. The storyline of S:TM was great for its time. Still great today, if it stays exclusive to that movie. But using that stuff in 2006?!

Singerman used trash that was 28 years old!! Means it stunk that much more.
