I agree that it's a classic but once the film rights fall into another company's hands, the term classic means nothing to them. It's just another product to be bought and sold. The fanboys don't mean jack to them.
It's a profitable venture and if they disrespect us, they disrespect us fans. It's happening, whether we like it or not.
It's sadly not like the producers of the Robocop remake realizing that it had been too early to remake a movie, that was barely twenty years old.
But our opinions and outcries amount to nothing to a studio. So it comes down to one thing: Accept the remake. Hate or love it. Because it's getting made. (As much as I myself don't like the fact but the business end is the business end.)
