Escape from New York (Remake)

If you "HAD" to recast Plisskin...do you like the choice of Gerard Butler???

  • Yes I like him...not sure if he's my top choice but...I like it! :)

  • No he's not right for the role at all. :(

  • Not bad but...I'm not sure yet...need to give it more time.

Anyone can grow stubble and hair. The personality is what makes Plisskin not just the look. It's better to find the personality first and then fix the look than vice versa. I think Gerard has the personality and the build to make Plisskin even more dangerous than ever.

If you havent seen lost check out the first few episodes of season 1. My opinion isnt based on just looks, his personnality is Snake Plisken. He is very charismatic, Sarcastic, Tough and a real bad a**.

^ He doesn't even look 1/10th as formidable as Gerard though. Stubble and long hair can only take you so far. You have to be able to back up the look.

Dude you keep basing your argument on looks and I just stated watch at least the first few episodes on lost season 1. if not all 3 seasons and you will see the acting qualities that I previously stated.

Josh looks 10 times more "Snake" than Gerard regardless of his long hair and stubble.

i'm sure Gerard will do fine as Snake but Josh Holloway as Snake is a HUGE missed opportunity.

My grandmother has a better physique.

I'll take Gerard:

The thing is we're all comparing an actor to Kurt Russell because Kurt is the only Snake we know.

He's shown he can act the part for 3 years now and showing a goofy pic and ignoring training is hardly good basis for an argument, it's not like Russel hasn't done goofy or is a massively built man at all, So far Butler has done all roles with a thick Scottish accent and 300 was mainly about shouting loudly, Snake is cold and quiet spoken with a cynical sarcasm, just like Sawyer.

All three have the same physique

Kurt Russel wasnt even all that toned up for escape. Holloway fits Snakes character more in acting and looks, josh acts with depth. 300 didnt showcase much if anything of Gerards acting ability other than he can shout. This is why I dont understand the Gerard Bandwagon.

I think Gerards acting will be fine Phantom of The Opera was an amazing perfomance. 300 yes he mostly screamed and yelled but the thing is he made you believe that everything he was saying he was saying for the good of Sparta and that no matter what his body would be sacrificed just to motivate all of Greece. In my opinion he MADE me believe that i mad when it showed him die at the end because he had made me believe that he did die for a cause.

I don t know very well Gerald Butler But I doubt he will be a better a** than Josh! This attitude is very important in the movie. Its not just about a hero saving the day. None only josh knows how to be an a** but he looks like the old Plisken! You have both world right there! But hey! If they want to do something new. Fine! But i hope it work!

Playing devil's advocate, Snake Plissken is an entirely different role than Leonidas. Snake doesn't make the audience believe, and he's not there to do that. Snake didn't sacrifice himself or anyone in Escape from New York, didn't rally any troops, didn't inspire a country. He just wanted to get his pardon and prevent his artery from exploding. And like Hunter Rider said, Snake is quiet and understated. The characters are just complete polar opposites.

True...but it was funny. :oldrazz:

He still looks built there instead. Josh looks so damn skinny like a Club Kid.

as an artist that's been studying anatomy for close to 15 years, i don't know how you could tell he's built from that picture...or how you could come to the conclusion that Josh looks skinny after the pix midnghtsun posted...

Or hindered by actually looking at the pictures it would appear.

Im not saying that he will play the character again im just saying that i would like to see him do it because he obviously has the acting chops to pull offthat part and he did it very convincingly so i think he can pull this off just as well. Acting wise i think he is strong enough to do that and maybe bring a new edge to it you never know.

^ Because I'm not limited by an artists point of view.

lol...

...sorry, but that makes no sense. that's like someone saying they're more knowledgable in chemistry because they're not limited by a chemist's point of view.

I forgot the ;) after sorry Dorky F. He just looks...bigger whereas Josh looks like he has a slender feminine build in several pics.

I think he looks skinnier only because his body isn't facing the camera as Russel's and Butler's are. His body is angled.

He's still a **** choice.

My point is that he doesn't obviously have the acting chops to pull it off, based on his previous roles.

Yeah, you can't imagine something in your had that the artist didn't put there. I can imagine that Batman and Robin was a great movie in my head. But it's not.
